Mr. Bungle

Hey all, here's a band to check out (if you haven't already). Their name is Mr. Bungle, and I can only describe their music as retro-alternative-progressive - everything from the heavy-metal foolishness of 'Squeeze Me Macaroni' to the truly inspiring music such as 'Vanity Fair', 'Pink Cigarette' and 'Backstroking'.

Much of it is tongue-in-cheek fare, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Seriously though, great band. Check them out if you have the chance. I recommend the album California as both a starter and their best.

Oh, yeah, I dig their cover of Adriano Celentano's "24000 Baci"...!

isn't the name Mr. Bungle from something?

now I remember. The Pee Wee Herman stage show. Mr. Bungle was a generic term for persons with ill hygiene.

They've recorded three albums already (and lots of cassettes back in the early 90s).
One of the best bands ever, IMHO. And Mike Patton - in Faith No More, in Mr Bungle, in Tomahawk, in Fantomas - is one of the best vocalists ever born!

That's very kind of you, Shane G.!
I used to think that Pink Floyd fans would love FNM or Mr Bungle for sure... This sophisticated, complicated, powerful music with really good lyrics. But they usually don't. Maybe they just do not know it, or connect Mike Patton only with "I'm Easy"

If you listen carefully to the first, self-titled Mr. Bungle album, between songs there is a whole story about Mr. Bungle - how disgusting he was and why children at school didn't like him... That explains the name and proves that your ideas were probably right!

oh, we knew they were right.

Pee Wee actually showed these 50's-era hygienic films featuring Mr. Bungle. or mentioning "him".
