Obscured by Clouds has a handful of good songs and Atom Heart Mother has, well, a handful of songs. OBC.

Plus, the song Free Four is worth the purchase alone.

I'll got with Atom Heart Mother, but only because it's a sentimental favourite. Obscured by Clouds is by far the superior record.

OBC is a safe record to go with if you're new to Pink Floyd, but if you are already waist-deep and feel adventurous, go for AHM if you like.

Let's put it this way. While OBC is a very straight album, based on simple songs in classic Floyd style pre-Dark Side, AHM is more of an experiment, first and foremost for the AHM suite, a side-long instrumental composition (featuring choir and orchestra). Also, AHM offers three overlooked songs from Roger, Rick and David which are IMO just beautiful. As Stratman pointed out, you need both albums, actually. It's up to you, if you prefer a good solid rock album go for OBC, otherwise, if you like a bit more of Floydian madness, your choice should be AHM.
