Harley 100th Anniversary

As some of you know, Harley-Davidson is celebrating it's 100th anniversary. My dad works for the company as an engineer, so I'm going to the parties and stuff. I live near Milwaukee, so sometimes there might be a chapter or two going down the road, and and you can defninitely hear it! Anyway, my dad heard from an insider on the entertainment comittee that on Sunday, there's going to be a "suprise" band playing, and no one knows who it is. All my dad knows is that it's BIG. My guess is either some country-rock thing like Allman Brothers or something, the Stones, or maybe even Jethro Tull. Any guesses?

Another question: Do any of you own Harleys? My dad's selling his since he bought a Buell, which I guess he likes better.

I don't have a Harley, but I do have a shirt commemorating the big 100. And, maybe that band is Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I thought Lynyrd split up, or at least barely anyone in the band now was in the original.

Probably someone like Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Congrats to H - D. I've never owned one, but my dad was a Harley owner.

Peter Frampton's playing there, also. I'm going to see him. I'm rather new to his music, so all I know is he used to use a talk box.

hmmm...me & Ulysses think alike.

No, L- S are still performing. Ronnie Van Zant's little bro does the vocals now. There are a couple of others who've died too.

Lynyrd Skynyrd seems like a realistic choice because they are still popular, but not huge like the Stones still are. LS can still be considered "BIG."

My dad was a Harley-riding funeral escort in the 60's.

I own a lovely red 1200cc Sportster (see pic in APFFN Yearbook).

I won't be going to the birthday bash.

Some European chapters are flying their bikes over to Milwaukee. That'd probably cost a lot, though they probably were able to plan for it. But still, that's pretty dedicated.

Hopefully he'll include "Can't Take That Away" in his playlist. Awesome song.

Lynyrd Skynyrd have the "aura" of Harley Riders. You know, loud American redneck outlaws.

I thought there was an injury which prevented Skynyrd from performing this year?

I think you're right. I think the lead guitarist had some kind of surgery or something.

Skynyrd just released a 30'th anniversary compilation set. Bought it yesterday, excellent stuff. They'd be great choice for the Harley 100 bash.

Hmm. Well, I believe the original members of Skynyrd are all in a big fight or something. They beat Dave and Roger in the top 10 Rock n' Roll Feuds. So it's got to be an intense one.
