Question Gilmour's Meltdown Electric Guitar

I have the David Gilmour in concert DVD which features the meltdown concert and ever since I watched it the first time I've been wondering what brand and model is that beautiful electric guitar he uses when playing confortably numb and other songs. It's black with silver humbuckers and bridge. If anyone knows please let me know!!!

Yup. It is a DuoJet, just like George Harrison's except with different pickups.

I dont know if i like the guitar

it looks alright, but it doesn't have that sustain or ringing notes that you usually hear from Gilmour

i actually liked that about it. Gave it a more earthy, bluesy feel. Suited the format of the concert better.

It sounded good on Rick Wrights song, but for SOYCD and Comfortably Numb, it didnt have that "strat" sound that he is so famous for.

I was disappointed that he didnt have any strats on that concert.

Isnt that duo-jet worth in excess of $100k? Im sure I read it in an interview...

Well any Gretsch Duo Jet from ages ago is worth a lot, because they're great guitars and are vintage. If it's been owned by Dave, and played on such a great and important concert it'd be worth about that, yeah.

And I personally love Duo Jets. It's a great guitar with some of the best bits from les pauls, gretschs and teles. Also, you can get cheap-ass versions for like £399 rrp...

Nothing grabs me like a Fender, and I could think of several guitars I'd rather have before getting a Gibson...(Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Paul Reed Smith, Taylor, etc.)

Off topic, but a much-needed rant indeed

Well personally my list goes something like:

Epiphone Casino (one of the USA/vintage ones)
Gibson Les Paul
Fender butterscotch tele (love the colour)
Fender strat

(a few taylors, and rickenbackers etc, and of course the gretschs)

but it's all down to taste I guess. I really love the thick sound of les pauls, and they're more sloppy, suiting my playing style... I guess I'm in a minority on a floyd website but still.

When did Gretsch start using Bigsby tremalos?

Useless info...

the really old epi casinos had bigsbys as well, I'd love to get my hands on one of them..
