a shame

Pink floyd to me is thematic and audiophonic perfection. It hurts to know that Gilmour wasnt capable of writing down a couple of good lyrics when Waters left.Doesnt Gilmour look like a pussy leeting his wife writing down some of the shitty lyrics on Division Bell? i mean COME ON! Also, i think Broken China is a good album, but why did Wright have to commission Moore to write down the lyrics? Wouldnt it have been more satisfying if he wrote them down himslef? I love Pink Floyd but this thing.. i find hard to swallow.what do u think my friends?

Okay InLimbo. I see you're one of those new member types who feels the need to produce a rapid number of threads upon arrival. Polluting the board with several friends containing your opinions is not necessary, nor will it get a good response. I would suggest lightening up on the language for one, and two, containing all of your opinions to a single thread. Why not try "InLimbos Thoughts". I'd appreciate, and so would the rest of us. Thanks, Pearly. Any questions pm me.

...easy now, InLimbo. Pearly is just doing her moderating duties (which she does quite well) - and the point about reading the posting guidelines is a good one. You'll find little patience 'round here for arrogance and harshness (except of course if your name is a dairy product or a rodent...)

Question Tough question from Final Cut

Hello. Is there anybody out there? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I'm new, and I don't really know what I'm doing. I was trying to find the answer to a question that has bothered me for about 20 years. This seemed to be the most resently active area so I thought I'd just throw it out here:
What were "the gunner's dying words on the intercom?" Or What is said in the background after that line on The Final Cut?

PWXXGHHT! PWXXAGGETTXSXTT! PXWXXTTGAGGXT!

Paraphrasing, of course.

I think we can safely conclude that the gunner's dying words were "Oh, shiite!!"

No one really knows.

If anyone has an interview or article where Rog explains, please share.

If Rog does one of those chats like Gilmour did last year, that would be the question I submit.

Yep, I'm wasting it.

Oh, and Charles Bronson died. It's a little off-topic, but sad news.

On the subject... Gilmour plays a nice guitar but he can't write lyrics for crap. I don't think he has the depth and insight to write a real Pink Floyd album - he just knows how to kinda sound like one. I remember seeing the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour - there was a video of an indian quietly moving down stream, quiet music, and lasers. What the hell were lasers doing going off during this? Simple - it was a Pink Floyd concert - ya gotta have lasers! Gilmour's Floyd isn't about expressing an idea or feeling in a dramatic and interesting way, it's about playing a cool style of music and then trying to make those darn interfering lyrics at least add to the mood. It's too bad he and Waters can't get along - Waters doesn't have the musical flow to make swallowing his lyrics sweeter, Gilmour can play the hell out of a guitar but most of the time, who cares? it's just meaningless elevator music.
