| The question is: "Who owns the fish?" Hints: The Brit lives in the red house. The Swede keeps dogs as pets. The Dane drinks tea. The green house is on the left of the white house. The green house's owner drinks coffee. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds. The owner of yellow house smokes Dunhill. The man living in the center house drinks milk. The Norwegian lives in the first house. The man who smokes blends lives next to the one who keeps cats. The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who smokes Dunhill. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer. The German smokes Prince. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water. |

| Although I don't think logic puzzles are relevant to how smart one is, it's just a process of elimination. I agree with Fulg. Yellow-Norwegian, Dunhill, Water, Cats Blue-Dane, Blends, Tea, Horses Red-Brit, PallMall, Milk, Birds Green-German, Prince, Coffee, Fish White-Swede, Bluemasters, Beer, Dogs P.S. If you are who I think you are...behave youngin. |

| Exactly the same solution matrix I came up with.. Although , based on the amount if information provided, there may be more than one possible solution. |

| I don't think these types of tests show how smart you are but they may reflect how "logical" you are. I found a pretty good IQ test on the internet that is free to use if you are really bored or really curious. http://www.emode.com/tests/uiq/ |

| I've actually taken one of those before, it's been awhile, and I can't quite remember where I took it. It said I was a mathematical something or other. |

| My IQ is somewhere around 300. Is that good? |

| Yeah, mine was like 464. What does that mean? |

| Damn, Chrissy. I got 300 and you got 464... you're three times as smart as me. |

| Quote:
The hint says that the cat owner lives next to whoever smokes blends, but which side is not specified; the other hint says that whoever drinks water lives near whoever smokes blends, but again,it's not specified. I have to agree that: a)there are many possible solutions b)might as well take an IQ test c)this guy better not be pulling our legs... |

| Call, does that post look like assumption to you? It's called a logic problem. With the given information, you should be able to figure out each owner's house color, beverage, cigarette brand, and pet. Here's a logic puzzle page, I'm sure there are tons more. This is the first I found. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/P...4484/logic.htm |

| Dude, I know what a logic problem is, I've been solving them since I was 4, and I went to one or two Maths olympics in my time. The certain answers are Yellow-Norwegian-Dunhill Blue-horses Red-Brit-Milk Green-Coffee White But then you assumed that the Norwegian kept cats and drank water. How do you know that for certain? It's not specified wether the cat owner lives left or right to the Blends smoker, and the same goes for the water drinker. The water drinker and the cat owner could be different persons. Quote:
And you said that the German lives in the green house -what if he lives in the white house? It doesn't make a difference. IMO, there aren't enough hints. But if you could explain your process to me, I'd be glad, this problem's driving up the wall |

| My first step was the homes. The easiest way would be to just draw a diagram of 5 houses and put the info in there. By skimming over the hints, you should be able to deduct what order the homes are in, and what color they are left to right. I have them listed this way here. 1 Yellow 2 Blue 3 Red 4 Green 5 White Then go with the obvious next..fill in the blanks 1 Yellow - Norwegian - Dunhill 2 Blue - Horses 3 Red - Brit - Milk (the red house would be the center if you drew a diagram of 5 homes in a row) 4 Green - coffee 5 White The 3rd phase is to start the process of elimination… Swede-Dogs Bluemasters-Beer German-Prince Pallmalls-Birds So now we know that #1Yellow house cannot be-Birds, Dogs, Horses..That leaves him w/ fish or cats. He also cannot be the one who has Beer, Coffee, Milk or Tea (The Dane has tea)…So he must have Water. Now that we know he drinks water, we know that the blue house owner smokes Blends. And so on and so forth. |
