New Rolling Stone Mag-100 Greatest Guitarists

Hey, I don't know if you guys picked up the new issue. It's dated Sept. 18, 2003.

I lost all respect for the magazine. Not only becuase they ranked David Gilmour at 90 something (along with Angus Young) but because they put people like Jack White (White Stripes) ahead of them. Jack was at 17!!!! Now, I really like the Stripes and all, but there is no way that you can put him ahead of a guitarist that has been around for over 30 years and created some of the best and most revered solos of all time. Even Trey Anastasio (Phish) was only at like 50 something. He's incredible!

My memory fails me, but there were many other tragedies. Pick up a copy, see what you think.

Jack White deserves to be where he is... I've seen him live and he's awesome. Has a wicked rapid picking action in his right hand...

DG should be above him. And Jonny Greenwood somewhere in there, too.

And Jimi Hendrix at #1? Come on. He's definately overrated these days.

Yes Big Dave should be higher on the list, and Jack White lower... but I will say that I agree with the top 10.

Okay, will someone please tell me why the hell Joan freaking Jett is on this list, and not Zakk Wylde?! And beating out Robby Krieger? What's wrong with these people.

Because Joan Jett was more cultually influential than Zakk Wylde.

Well I don't understand. Shouldn't it be based on talent, legendary skills, and virtuoso factor?

I agree with Jimi all the way.

I've never heard Jimi's guitar work and been impressed. Is there something wrong with me?
