That's because sometime in the distant past, you must have hit a checkbox that says "Don't Show this message again"

I used to have the same problem but now instead of an annoying box, all I get is that yellow triangle with an "!" saying "Don, but with errors on page."

Fulghers and others who have this problem:

Goto Tools --> Internet Options
Then Click on the Advanced tab

Now this will show a HUGE checklist with a lot of little checkboxes followed by strange sounding sentences. Somewhere in that vast window there, you will find a heading that says "Browsing". In the "Browsing" list, there should be one checkbox followed by a "Display a for every script error". Make sure the checkbox is not ticked.

Hope this helps

Any problems, PM me

Hmmm... you did mention that you run Windows 98? Sorry, my quick fix was basically intended for XP. When I get to college tomorrow (that's IF I get to college tomorrow), I'll try checking out the problem there. They have Win 2000 and your versions of IE should match. Just in case, could you let me know what version of IE you are running? (You can do this by going to Help --> About Internet Explorer.

Mine for example says that the version is: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 )

I know how f**king annoying that little pop-up box can be. Every freaking page it loads, right? And pop-up blockers CAN'T stop it because it isn't an individual process (fancy name for "New Browsing Window" ) but a reporting system used by IE itself. Hence unless disabled by IE or the script is fixed, you will keep seeing that irritation...

edit #1: On a side note, could you please go through the same process as before but only this time check to see if "Disable Script debugging" (under "Browsing" heading again) is CHECKED?

edit #2: On some machines I've found that clearing your cookies seems to reset this error. [This can be accomplished by going to Tools --> Internet Options. In the General Tab there should be a button that says "Delete Cookies"]

I know. It is a script problem but sometimes the stuff I mentioned above usually works just fine SO I assumed that maybe others could find their won way out similarly.

Guess not

So did this problem disappear for people? Or does it still happen?

Why I want to ask is on another Forum I frequent, I had a similar problem. I tried everything. Then I ran AdAware by lavasoft (www.lavasoftusa.com) and BAM! It doscovered so many hidden dataminers and ad software on my machine (103 to be exact).

I cleaned it out and quarantined it and my machine and IE work smoothly now. It could be a related problem.

EDIT ::: Posted the wrong link!

I'm glad. Simon, I use Lavasoft's AdAware regularly here and recommend it to everyone I know that owns a computer.

Unfortunately, these days, while surfing the Internet and/or installing software by people without a bit of ethics, you can get a lot of parasiteware and scumware softwares (such as GAIN's PrecisionTime and several others, come of which are installed by Kazaa, for instance), most of which spawn pops every time you do anything at your computer, and also when you do nothing.

A shame, I should say, and highly unethical.
