Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election!

Another small benefit would be a mod "on duty" in that Far East time zone almost directly between North America and Europe.

Round the clock modding.

Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election!

*I know I'm supposed to be gone, but I do stop in from time to time.*

Doesn't it seem a bit drastic to have 5 moderators? Okay, 4 while I'm "gone". I've never seen over 20 members on this board at once, and just 2 of us were handling the entire thing. Personally, I think it would be too much.

Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election!

Actually, now that I think about it. It seems that this going to be one of those things like last time, where comments are going to start surfacing because it's the end of the election and one feels they are not going to win. People propositioning that we should have more moderators than the definitions set forth by the poll. If those certain people were winning, do you really think they'd be suggesting this idea? I don't think that it right. Hey, why not just make every person on the poll a moderator?...Do you see what I'm getting at? It's isn't fair to change the rules after the fact, especially to the other people on the ballot.
If this is going to be the case, count me out.

We should just change the rules in some way so as to make me mod.

Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election!

I'm going to accept my fate fair and square. If I win, great, if I don't, so be it, someone else better was chosen in my stead. In either case, I want it to be by the book.

Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election!

that's not that i care either way what is decided. I mean, in a specific case, I would love to have Lej on if she ends up below me in votes, and i would love to be on if i end up below her. then again, a dark horse candidate could come from the woodwork and blow everything out of whack. But, I agree with what Chrissy said about it being unfair.

I don't know if you read the posts properly but it wasn't me that suggested it but another member, despite what you think I am not trying any last minute "make me a moderator by default" campaigns..

cheers

Um...If I am not mistaken, it was stratman suggested the idea of 4 extra mods plus yourself, not anyone currently leading in the ballots.

I also don't think it's a case of 3 or 4 or 5 mods being too many or too few, or that everyone should be a moderator, but a case of members genuinely wishing to contribute their freely volunteered assistance in performing those moderator tasks to which we have become accustomed.

Moderator is not a position of power or reverence or advantage or preference: mods are just regular members like everybody else. There are no qualifications, as I am aware, expressly required in being a mod here other than a wish to help out, to maintain this brilliant place for the benefit of the whole membership. Publically expressed gratitude is kind and appreciated, but I didn't accept the role in expectation of it. I don't personally need anyone's respect just because I am a moderator, nor do I expect any member to jump through hoops should I wish it so. I'd actually be surprised if they did, and mildly alarmed.

Count you out? But you're not up for re-election, Pearls.

Yeah, it was me who suggested it.

Nobody has to 'go postal' over it.

No big deal.
