I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused..... You KNOW everyone thinks yer the greatest, man. You KNOW that everyone backs you 100%. You were the overwhelming vote-getter last time. Just when I was convinced you really wanted out....I think now maybe you really love it and are too modest to admit it.

| Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election! No worries, Pearls. But a mod's gotta do what a mod's gotta do. stratters: I do appreciate the admiration and support I receive from this site, and would like to assure most, if not all, that the feeling is very much mutual. I have stated my reasons and have requested, just as last time, that anyone with any sense should vote for someone more willing or able or eager to invest their time, to have their shot at contribution. Be assured, I do not secretly want to be re-elected, but will reluctantly moderate if called upon. Please do not call upon me, but thanks for your kind words, all.

| Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election! Here's my campaign speech, folks - I cannot describe how honored I am to have been nominated to stand for moderator at APFFN. Even after I found out what bizarre machinations led to it. I owe APFFN a great deal, the recovery of a very dear and long lost friend, with whom I shared an important and formative part of our lives. This board will have a place in my heart forever, if only because of that one event. I am willing and even eager to repay this community for the favor it has granted me. Moderator is often a tedious and thankless job, but I am willing to devote the time to be the best moderator I can be for the community. However... While I have been a member the requisite amount of time, I think the quantity of my posts reflects the amount of involvement I've had to date, and it is clear that others have made much greater efforts to make this an interesting and dynamic community than I have. While I would certainly spend a lot more time here if elected, in line with the responsibilities of a moderator, others have already demonstrated that commitment, and deserve your vote far more than I do. I would like to suggest, if you have not yet cast your vote, that you consider (in no particular order) Sydney, Wing'd Icarus, Fulghum, GeraldTheMouse - each of these people has demonstrated a commitment to (or a least a bloody-minded refusal to leave) this community. BoaB, I think (and I am prejudiced, we are very old friends), has shown a commitment to remain long after the fun has been explained right out of the joke; his unwillingness to just quit but to rather request the users to make their choices known is an example that I think the board should continue in the future. In accordance with his wishes, I shall not vote for him. Thank you, everyone. |

| Re: Discuss the 2003 APFFN mod election! Hello fellows of my community. This is the part wherein I spew rhetoric and make politician-sounding promises about my foreseen reign as moderator, and everyone is reassured by the peace and calm and wonderment that I offer in exchange for votes. But really, facts is facts. This place is wild. There are over 4000+ members, more joining everyday, and there are more threads and posts and comments and crude jokes than any one or three people could ever possibly hope to keep tabs on. Let's face it. You guys know me. There's more Gerald on these boards than anyone else, so you should probably have a good idea of what I'm like, and here it is: I'm a smartass. I'm mean, I'm rude, I make fun of people, and I have no tolerance for stupidity or troublemakers. I think that I'm somewhat notorious for my longwinded posts in defense of subjectivity, the positive nature of our online community, &c. It's because I have far too much free time, and I can't stand to see people treat this website poorly, because that detracts from the jollies I get out of it. So ask yourself-- What do you want out of a moderator? Someone nice, friendly, faithful, cheerful, all-loving and bouncy? No! You want the hardass, the guy who gets rid of the punks, the guy who's willing to point out the stupidity and sift through the nonsense. So vote for me, not because you like me, but because you're too afraid not to.
