Re: Piper vs. Pepper

Sgt. Pepper definitely, as plain and simple as the songs are. Piper is more......textured, for lack of a better word.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

although i particularly love Piper, i must admit that Sgt. Pepper easily had more of an influence on main stream r'n'r. Piper was great and did great things for Floyd, but the Beatles are the Beatles.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

you guys are forgetting that the beatles were only more influencial cause they were already huge. they were a pop band. Pink floyd never were. But Peppers definetly wouldn't be pepper if they weren't influenced by the floyd, and I'm definetly sure they were. Paul himself admitted that even before Pink floyd were signed, he went to their gigs and watched the whole set, and no one would bother him for autographs.

You're well on your way.
Gotta listen to more Sigur Ros, though.
And get a pair of Kevin Rowland denim coveralls.

LOL!!

I don't get it... well you should at least listen to pepper even if you don't like the beatles. I mean I didn't like the Beatles too cos' all I heard from them was Yellow Submarine,Ob-la-di,Ob-la-da, Hard's day night etc. and I thought (and still do) of it as crap.
Then I've heard the whole Revolver,Sgt. Pepper and their "good" songs like Walrus,All you need is love, Come together and became a fan.

I think the Beatles is the only band that I hate and adore at the same time.

You should deifinetly try your luck with Pepper...

Of course SPLHCB is more influential, it's obvious. You may like "Piper" more, but even Pink Floyd fans have to admit that it isn't that influential, after all it didn't even go gold in the USA, according to Rolling Stone Magazine.

A better poll/comparison about influence on the rock scene would be Dark Side Of The Moon vs. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

This great track "A day in the life" is inspired by the who's "a quick one" that was released just two months before "a day in the life" was recorded. So therefore it is actually the who who were the geniuses.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

Sure Pepper sold more copies and it was influential. But Piper was also very influential. It is way more psychedelic than Pepper. I think it is the better album actually. I think Piper influenced the Psychedelic scene a lot more than pepper.
