Re: Piper vs. Pepper

In my humble opinion--- I like Piper, but because the Beatles were well known, Pep got better play--Floyd was not a household name and new to The Machine.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

I can't stand the beatles to my mind they are the worst pop the 60's produced. The psycadelic rock that PF produced is such a more distinctive and interesting sound I'd go Piper all the way.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

I'll go with Sgt. Pepper.

The Beatles started with "I wanna hold your hand", and in 3 years the recorded Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". It was amazing.

It's also clear tha PF is influenced by the music that The Beatles created. Both albums are incredibly good, but I go with Sgt. Pepper.

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

Any critic that calls piper great wants his head testing. Syd Barret was not a genius. syd Barret was only an inspiration to the Pink Floyd genius because he knew four geniuses. To even compare these albums is absurd, Sgt. Pepper smashed apart the rules of rock music making so many innovations in it's 39 mins it's hard to believe. Fair enough, PATGOD is an interesting enough record and fairly innovative; but up there with the greatest ever? No way, Pedro!

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

As albums, they're both often over-rated and under-rated at the same time, sometimes by the same person in the same breath.

But they're both really really good. There's bits of them that make me think "what the hell is this" as well as "this is brilliant, absolutely genius" at the sime time.

They both have complimentary Mono and Stereo versions as well, but the Stereo versions aren't necessarily better.

I wasn't saying that they started specifically with "I want to hold your hand". "Love me do", "I want to hold your hand", "She loves you" are some of their firsts songs.

I wanted to go to the point that in 3 or 4 years they went from that rn'r to "Sgt. Pepper..."

Re: Piper vs. Pepper

It's weird... Piper and ASOS are neck-and-neck in the other poll, and Pepper is only barely beating the Floyd in this poll. How does ASOS stack up against the Beatles I wonder?
