Re: An album question?

having only recently become appeciative of pink floyds music (at 33yo, how much of life have i missed)

my brother in law gave me a copy of an album he has called "Welcome to the machine" its mainly wish you were here but with a few extra tracks, i gave been trawling the PF sites trying to find out as much info as i can about them and noticed that this album is not listed anywhere.

I got the track list (below) from gracenote.com
http://www.gracenote.com/xm/pcd/psyc...a039b4a30.html
which confirmed this is a released album (by who is a different question)
I have to say that is is not the Roger Waters album of the same name, you can view the track list for that here:
http://www.gracenote.com/xm/pcd/psyc...493b08d04.html

what I would like to know is, why is this album not listed anywhere, has it been disowned by the band or is it a bootleg or what?

Thanks in advance

Track list:
1/ Data
2/ Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Part I-V)
3/ Welcome To The Machine
4/ Have A Cigar
5/ Wish You Were Here
6/ Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts Vi-Ix)
7/ You Gotta Be Crazy
8/ Folded Flags

Re: An album question?

Sorby,

It's a very peculiar INFORMATION ONLY site. Clicking on Welcome To The Machine, it says something about The Rock Anthem Orchestra "Plays Pink Floyd" and if you click on THAT the following tracks were listed instead:

Money
Another brick in the wall
Us and them
Shine on you crazy diamond
Time
Breathe in the air
Wish you were here
Run like hell
Learning to fly
Welcome to the machine
Coming back to life

What the...? When trying to search or locate the Rock Anthem Orch. Welcome To The Machine, nothing of relevance comes up. You didn't say where or how your brother-in-law got the "copy"(?).

I have never heard of the RAO, but I DID see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) does Wish You Were Here in the shops the other day.

Re: An album question?

Its a weird site right enough! i usually only use it for reference as a last resort i normally use http://allmusic.com which is a much better site for information and has good history on the group for a begginer like me

knowing my brotherin law, the tight bastard probably got it from audiogalaxy or somewhere like that, he was a bit guarded when i asked him,

Cheers
