I saw Kim Mitchell a couple of times in Boston during his mid/late 1980's solo career (Go For Soda, All We Are, etc.). He put on a damn good show.

You can catch video excerpts from his Canadian radio show on You Tube. He often has guest fuitarists on and they just jam - play random riffs from random songs.

He was passed over for Jason, I think J is doing a good job, personally.
Dave Grohl has offered himself in case Jason doesn't want to do it again (which Jason has expressed he's been kept completely out of the loop on discussion on any future dates that have been rumoured)

Well never having watched a single episode of Pop Idol, I find it difficult to comment. I asked Mrs E ( she watches all that malarkey) and she said that Leona has a good voice....a bit like Mariah Carey. Never having listened to Mariah Carey, as I'm stuck in a time warp between 1960 and 1970, I find it difficult to comment. I asked my daughter who said " you wouldn't like her voice, dad, why are you asking?" Oh she's doing a duet with Jimmy page says I. " Who's Jimmy page" says she.......I walk away shaking my head....I find it difficult to comment.

Re: Led Zeppelin

I also like some of the "forgotten" songs:

Led Zep I - How Many More Times
Led Zep II - What Is And What Should Never Be
Led Zep III - Hats Off To Roy Harper
Led Zep 4th - Four Sticks
Houses - The Song Remains The Same
PG - Night Flight
Presence - Nobody's Fault
The Song..... - No Quarter
In Through.... - I'm Gonna Crawl
Coda - I Can't Quit You

And as Jimmy Page once said, he didn't like CDs when they became the norm because you can't play them backwards and get messages from satan.
He was just jokin' around. (or was he?????)

Re: Led Zeppelin

As a kid, I also vastly preferred vinyl because you could play them at "Chipmunks speed" (ie 45/78 RPM).

Re: Led Zeppelin

You might not remember but in 1981,Toronto's Nash The Slash released a mini album of instrumentals supposedly playable at any speed called "Decomposing"
And the label had 3 different timings for each number according to what speed you chose to play it at. It's not on CD at all (how would you decide?), but what a neat idea! It works because it's instrumental. Who's gonna check up on you?

Now I'm gonna put all the PF instrumentals into a music editing program and speed them up to 45 RPM and 78 RPMs.
"The Great Gig In The Sky", and "Marooned" at 78! Top drawer!

Re: Led Zeppelin

Yup! Just played "The Great Gig..." at 78 RPMs. Heard Alvin Chipmunk say he's not frightened of dying, Clare sounding like a starling or a wren,,, all in all, just under 2 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Ever.
