NNJ, for me the best part of Dogs isn't the solo, but the last two minutes. So f*cking (insert synonem for 'good')

I also like Dogs the best, but for this thread definetly CN. It's classic!

CN solo for me. Though I've heard it a million times, I never get tired of it.

I agree, the last two minutes of Dogs is genius, but I believe the solo is the best that Dave has ever done. I've never much cared for CN, I guess everyone likes it because it is so good given the context it is presented. Anyway, given the choice, I choose Time.

As much as I like CN, I don't think it's all that everyone makes it out to be. Dave has stronger solos in other cuts. The solo in CN is fairly straight forward. For crying out loud, If I can play it, it can't be that hard. Based on the specifics of this thread, I'd have to pick Time anyway. I have a very strong emotional bond with the song Time. That was the first lead I ever played in front of a crowd. I was 16 and my garage band had it's very first gig, a big summer party at our drummers family gathering. There were about 200 people there. I was scared s***less, but I did a pretty decent job. So needless to say, Time has a special place in my memories.. Otherwise, I think Dave's best solos are Dogs, SOYCD, Coming Back to Life and High Hopes.

Complexity isn't necessarily what makes me like a solo. In fact most of my favorites are very simple. Last edited by stratman; 09-18-2003 at 11:26 PM.

I agree. For me, a good solo simply has to sound good to my ears. It doesn't matter how hard or easy it is to play.

I definetly go for time (the studio version). I think Dave has other solos much harder to play, but in my opinion thas is not the main topic at the time to evaluate a solo. For me is the composition, the right order of the notes, even if they are simply played. Somebody wrote in this forum, some months ago, that Dave solos are like histories. I think time's solo is one of those.

I don't care what any of you say but CN is the best!I go in to a trance every time I hear it it makes the hairs on my neck stick up and leaves me shaking afterwards.apart from that I'd have to careful with that axe eugene and high hopes.ALL of daves solos are histories.

time, because of the way the song leads up to it. throughout the length of the song, you can tell it is coming, but it hints at it subtly, then smack. right in your face some serious intense solo action. that is what makes the difference. the cn one is great, but the build up isn't quite the same, to me anyways. and the dogs one is great too.
