"Mother" is probably the best thing they sang together.
Isn't it ?

Even if Waters vocals sound kinda bad, still I can't imagine Dave singing of TFC

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration.

Actually, Dave sings on every song on DSOTM

He sings breathe, Time(except for bridges which rick sings, and Dave joins after two lines for harmony), money, Us and Them.

Rog sings the verses of Brain Damage, and Dave joins in for harmony in the choruses, and in Eclpise, Dave and Rog sing together as well.

Dave does the lead vocals on Time, Money and I think Us and them. He also sings on "Breathe" and "Eclipse".

It was somewhere I read (maybe here) that Waters once said "Of the whole lot of us, I think Dave was the only guy with some talent in him. The rest of us were just mucking around". I'm not too sure about the exact wordins but 'twas something like that. S**t this hand aches. Write later.

Re: I bought The Final Cut! and got pissed off...

(This is kinda wierd since there was no "The Final Cut" topic. And you guys have already gotten off topic. But ill say it anyways.)

I ordered The Final Cut on Saturday, Oct. 13.
I know you prolly think im a PF Poser. But the truth is that ive seen a lot of mixed reviews on this forum of it. So after a lot of conscientious debating, I decided to get it. I listened to 30 second clips on CDnow.com of all the songs. I must say that NNJ and Your Possible Pasts impressed me immensely.

What are your thoughts on this?

I will give you guys my "TFC point of view" when I get it.

Thanx

Re: I bought The Final Cut! and got pissed off...

I finally got my TFC!!!
Very impressed, it definately goes in my top 5 albums.

Post war dream- this is why waters is best poet of all time. Gets pretty heavy last few lines!(Mesa likes)

Your possible pasts- Just Great! The chorus should be repeated twice but otherwise it is definately Echoes material!

One of the few- a bit depressing. I like how its a repercussion in NNJ.

Heros return-upbeat. Not too much to say.

Gunners dream-Echoes material. Thumbs-up to the saxophone.(but not as good as Us and Them, hehehehe)

Paranoid eyes- Well, I guess I'll know what to do if someone tries to break down my disguise, but not a great song.

Filthy hands off desert- Im sure id like it a lot more if I was a history nut! But unfortunately i have no -------- clue what hes talking about.

Fletcher Memorial Home- what a beatiful song. I really like how roger sings this song.

Southhampton docks- No honorable or dishonorable mention here. Pretty mediocre. Oh wait a minute, the transition at the end was great!

The final cut- good lyrics. I like songs with mood changes in the middle of the song.

Not Now John- Truly addicting. I found myself saying "**** all that" in school. Which reminds me, I wonder if ill get extra credit if I ask where the bar is in French class. The song for me, was educational more than anything. I learned what getting pissed is. Pissed = at a bar. The song musically, reminded me of Young Lust.

In a nutshell, this was my favorite song!

Two suns in the sunset- It's unbelievable that Roger can describe something so well. What a great poet! Another great saxophone solo. It's another haunted/beatiful/acoustic song just like Mother. That's not a bad thing either, that's good.

That's my piece of mind!

FYI, Pissed = drunk. At the bar, the pub, the club, the disco, wherever

Yeah, I always enjoy learning new ways to say, "getting hammered, wasted, etc."

Ya know, the good stuff they don't teach you at school.

Re: I bought The Final Cut! and got pissed off...

IMHO....A Smashing album. I just can't get enough of it. Get You Filthy Hands....makes an appearance in In The Flesh as well. Waters is just talking about the global conflicts on at that time. Breznev(Leonid Breznev was Premier of USSR) and his war in Afghanistan, Begin and his war against the arabs and Galtieri (Argentenian PM) and his war agaist the UK over the Falkland Islands. Well he's just talking about wars...I suppose
