Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

Been a Floydaphile for many a year and was very pleased to find and bookmark this web location.

Loved The Wall when it came out - too many PF related anecdotes to mention now - was gutted to have arrived in England in Summer 1980 too penniless to attend the first live performances in London.

I was therefore excited when more concerts were planned for the film. The film is the only place I have seen the track, "When the Tigers Broke Free" - also listed in the lyrics on the double album. I was a bit shocked to discover no reference to it on this web site and seemingly unobtainable elsewhere.

I vaguely remember a very short single release of this track either as an unsuccessful A-side, or unnoticed B-side. I don't know, I could be mistaken. I was really very stoned at the time. )

Is there anybody out there with similar views or better still further information?

Byron

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

-that's Radiochair with his signature one sentence disputing the topic posts  j/k-

I downloaded the song from - that thing you can download songs on the internet from (most say it's taboo with PF fans to say the Nap- word -whadever)

Um more info? Watch the film - get the lyrics down and just sorta fit 'em in.

It's a beautiful song and i thought i heard it was realeased somewhere on CD.

Ahh well....

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

It is on the bootleg 'A CDful of secrets'. So, here's another sentence. Happy Pat?

By the way, we shouldn't be calling them bootlegs. They are actually RoIO's (Records of Indetermined/Illegitimate Origin)

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

technically, half of them aren't records any more, Mr C. They're CD's.

Sorry.

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

I saw a couple days ago that it was being auctioned off on eBay. Now there will be a whole bunch of new bids, I can see it now.

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

Thanks Pink Pig.

I was beginning to think I'd imagined the single release thing, or that the truth is I've been effing mad for effing years.

Floyd on!

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

Oh dear...my stupidity gland has been in overdrive...again.

I recently rediscovered an RoIO CD called A CD FULL OF SECRETS, bought as a present for me, with several bootlegged Live and other tracks on it INCLUDING "When the Tigers Broke Free".

So, I don't have to go out looking for it anymore, I already have it. D'OH!

Floyd on!

Re: When the Tigers Broke Free

btw, I got it off that now-shut-down, uh, program non grata thingy...it's all in one piece, and doesn't have the little musical interlude at the end of the first part in the film, if you know what I mean...anyone know what's up with that or am I just babbling again??
