Division Bell is the only new album that I was able to listen to at it's first release: but as Pearly said that isn't the "real deal" is it.

For the record, my reaction was not very positive.

"That's it? That's all they've got?"

first I heard 'DSOTM' - which blew me away

then I heard 'Welcome To The Machine' on the radio - I liked it

later on I heard 'Animals' & then saw the show in Miami
It was the first big concert I ever saw & I fell asleep during part of "SOYCD"

I grew up during PF's golden age & I still never get tired of them

I was in the 6th grade when THE WALL came out...I smoked my 1st "number" a tightly rolled Diggidy dank splif of the highest Oregon indoor grade. Some kick ass herb! Anyway listening to the Wall (vinyl of course) I remember loosing myself in the technicolor spaced out animated album art...Pot is a mild psychadelic, and that music!!! Man it was somethin else.
Though I no longer use drugs, I still can get high....on the MUSIC! And in the morning I remember what i heard and there is no vomit to clean.

I saw them in '94, they didn't play any of their new releases. Floyd gave the fans what we wanted to hear: Darkside, WYWH, & Animals. I've never seen anything like it. the stadium was sold out 3 nights in a row within 2 hours. The extravaganza was complete with mammoth lasers, Pig, awesome guitar solos, and those incredible back up singers.

Just think about your favorite new band, and think about what happens when a new album by them comes out...it was probably something like that.

Here's a partial archive I found:

Pink Floyd more fury than sound
Laser show heats up a cold stadium crowd
Author: DOLLAR, STEVE Steve Dollar POPULAR MUSIC CRITIC STAFF Date: May 4, 1994 Publication: The Atlanta Journal and The Atlanta Constitution Page Number: E/4 Word Count: 803

To put things in the words of its core audience: Dude, cool laser show!

Pink Floyd's much anticipated performance at Bobby Dodd Stadium Tuesday night was an extravagant case of the spectacle upstaging the music. And given the elaborate props, sound effects and stunning light design on display - with lasers and video projections galore - that was probably as intended.

I remember when I had the news... some day in December 1993... I bought the newspaper and BANG!!! Pink Floyd are going to release a new album in March next year. And they will be in Italy in September. I was just... amazed, thrilled, the happiest guy in the whole world... The Winter passed counting the days to the release date; then one day you see the new cover on the ads at the record shop... you start imagining the music behind the artwork... Finally, the Day Of Release... you go out in the morning and buy your copy... I can remember... you sit and push the play button... magic.

I got AMLOR at its first release also, but in 1994 I was more thrilled and ecxited... I had all of their albums at that time and expectations were very high. And I was not disappointed at all. I loved The Division Bell at first listening and it is still one of my favourites, ever. It will always be.
