Some help about guitar.

I need some help. I think im going to buy a strat. Original american of course. But what one? http://www.fender.com/gear/gear.php?partno=0101002 .. is this a good one? Or what one should i buy, i want to have the ability to play all sorts of music. And if i can i want to have it with cool colours, not a normal one. Ex yellow with a black pickguard. But then the neck have to have another colour dont it? Please help me

PS: Pompeii, what guitar is dave playing?

Re: Some help about guitar.

Good choice Ablaze. That axe is very close to my '69 strat. The American deluxe is a fairly standard high end Strat. I'd look for an ash body as opposed to alder. Ash is a tad heavier but will sustain better.

Neck color realy doesn't matter so much. I prefer a rosewood fretboard myself (the darker wood). Rosewood is more porous yet harder than maple. This gives it the ability to "soak up" more sweat and finger oil than maple, but still be more durable in the long run. I think they are more playable, but that's just me. I have a rosewood fretboard on all of my guitars except one. I do notice a difference after playing for a half hour or so.

I think you'd be very happy with that choice.

If your looking for cool colors, check these out.

Re: Some help about guitar.

Color has no effect on playability, it's more a reflection of your personality. pick one that suits you. If you want to "look like" your favorite guitar hero then choose one that resembles their axe..

Gilmour = Red strat, white pickguard, maple neck.
Malmsteen = Yellow strat, white pickguard, maple neck
Vaughan = Tobacco Sunburst Strat, black pickguard, rosewood neck.
Me = White Strat, tortoise shell pickguard, rosewood neck...

Color is entirely up to you.

The fat strat is a standard strat with one difference. In the neck position it has a humbucking pickup (double coil) instead of the usual single coil. This does give it a very different sound. If you prefer the sound of a humbucker ( fat, dirty tone, a la ZZ Top, Alman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc) this may be a good choice for you.

Re: Some help about guitar.

I was thinking something like Frank Zappas strat, but i know. Thats not the point, the point is if its easy to choose the colour i want..ex yellow with black pickguard. But u think the american deluxe is the guitar for me? Or do u have another one who might be the one for me..
Btw, are you guys on irc? And if so, where?

Well, not knowing what and how you play I'd be hard pressed to give you a definitive answer. Tell me some more about what you play and what you want to accomplish on the guitar.

and no, I'm not on IRC. Sorry.

Re: Some help about guitar.

Hmmmmm, sounds like a strat will do the job you seek quite well. I'd consider the Fat Strat seeing as how Jimmy Page played a Les Paul with humbuckers, and about half of Zappas work was done on a Gibson SG with humbuckers as well.

Of course you could always go with a standard setup with three singles and use effects pedals to emulate the sound you are looking for. I use a Digitech RP200 A and there is no end to the sonic fury I can unleash.

Re: Some help about guitar.

nr 1 is to play floyd, so il rather go for the deluxe and use a board to get the other sound. I saw that on strat vs les stratman said that i could buy this for the custom shop, why cant i find that shop? Theres a shop on fender.com but that doesnt sell guitars, does it? Or am i just blind
And second, if i go to my local music shop, and say. Howdy, can you order a strat deluxe yellow with black pickguard, is he going to get it for me? Or is it more complicated?

Re: Some help about guitar.

If your local guitar shop is an authorized Fender dealer, he can get anything you desire.

Also, it's very easy to change out the pickguard. If he has a yellow Deluxe Strat with a white pickguard, he will be able to change it out to a black one for you in a few minutes.

The Fender Custom Shop is a division of Fender Inc. They build guitars to order. There is a page on Fender.com regarding the custom shop. Be warned... veerrryyy expensive... $$$$$$$

Re: Some help about guitar.

I wont buy it there, just drewl I live in a city in norway, with 8000 people. We are like farmers I really dont think their some kind of fender dealer heh. And the pickguard i can change my self, cant i ? just to remove in, and replace with the new one.. But to get the pickguard, thats what im talkin about..and getting the guitar, u said if he was a fender dealer he would get it. But he's not, how do i do it then? Can he still order?
