Think what you want. It's still the greatest thing ever recorded in my opinion.

I've just read through this entire thread (excuse the ryhme) and found it very interesting indeed. Particlularly where the subject veers towards the topic of Floyd being a shadow of their former selves, Gilmour being "Souless" post-Waters era material being crap etc etc...and felt compelled to write.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned elsewhere already (I've been here less than a week) But it occured to me that PF are not the only ones who have matured (or not as the case may be) over the years. Who have changed, mutated, developed over the years. Indeed we the fans and contstant listeners have also undergone the same changes over the years and as a consequence are (for want of a better word) "listening" to things differently.

Nostalgia plays a very big part in making something that was great then sound even better now. On the flipside, as we get older we lose our sense of wonder. Our cynicism grows as do our expectations.

Among other things, I teach the guitar for a living and this case in point was brought home to me by a few of my students....

At the time TDB was released many of them age 13-16 brought the CD to their lessons for me to work out. Point is, they were just as excited and in awe of that album as I was when I was the same age listening to DSOTM and WYWH!!

It made me wonder, have PF changed have we changed, or perhaps we've all met halfway????

What, about the join in the tape? It's not that noticeable. I don't think it's even there on the 5.1 remix.
