For Popular guitar riffs I would list the following 3: 1) Iron Man 2) Smoke on the Water 3) Highway to Hell I think for Bass I would go with: 1) Under Pressure/Ice Ice Baby (i know the bass riff was Queen but the Vanilla Ice ripoff got the same bassline extra exposure) 2) Another One Bites the Dust 3) Money

As do I.... Anyone in the UK will have heard that riff resurected by Girls Aloud this summer. Hmmmm...... Oddly enough I'd say the most recognisable riff in the world is a drum "riff" - Queen's We Will Rock You. But for guitar riffs, well, there's been a lot of good one's mentioned here already. Whiskey in the Jar by our very own Thin Lizzy is a good one. Bass lines: Money of course, and pretty much anything by Queen, they're good for riffs.

How About Jethro Tull's Aqualung? or Johnny B.Goode By Chuck Berry? and NOBODY mentioned Crossroads originaly by Robert Johnson and perfromed By Cream! or maybe "I can't explain" By the Who! and as for bass Riffs, first of all there is "White Rabbit" from Jefferson Airplane: A Psychedelic Classic Piece with great Bass riff! and second there is a Bass riff recommendation for you all: Fountain of salamacis by Gabriel-Era Genesis. The riff is Not through all of the song, but it is great! Back to Guitar, how about Brothers In arms or sultans of swing by Dire straits????? And back to bass, Nobody mentioned Roxanne by the Police! My sharona indeed has a great guitar solo at the ending, which is great. and as for Nirvana, they had a great riff on "Love Buzz" from their First album - "Bleach". don't get Discouraged!! Yoav.

Having all my other choices already mentioned, my list has been whittled down to Tuesday's Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It always makes me think of the end of Happy Gilmore. The first chord of Won't Get Fooled Again is also tantalizing. And, I thought Fulgy didn't like Dave Matthews, what the hell was he doing at a show?!

Floyd has had some decent riffs, too. I always loved the outro riff to "Sheep". "Have A Cigar" has a riff I wish I would've come up with.
