Re: The Wall-Best Album from the Waters Domination era

I think that The wall is the best Waters domination era pink floyd album, and I'm not saying that because it was the most successfull commercially(Heaven sake NO), But because of the Beautifull and powerfull lyrics, amazing music, and the energy that flows from this album. Plus It's not an entirely Roger's work but almost, cause David Gilmour wrote "Comfortably Numb" & "Run Like Hell" Plus he played the hell out of an amzing Guitar(altough not like in Echoes in Pompeii or Shine on you Crazy Diamond on WYWH).

Best commercially? Probably.
Best Musicaly? Definitely!
(Those remarks relate to the waters era. My favourite PF Album is Wish you were here and my Favorite era is 1968-1975)

What do you fokes think? do you agree?
maybe not?

Re: The Wall-Best Album from the Waters Domination era

Dark Side was the best commercially, it is #4 on the all time best sellers list. At least according to Billboard. And I think you know my thoughts on the album being the best musically.

So, let me get this straight before piling in with my tuppence worth. In your opinion:

DSOTM was the best PF album commercially. Okay.
WYWH was the best PF album musically. Check.

So, how does The Wall manage to be the best (overall?) Waters era PF album? I'm confused.

All clear-cut responses, and not-so-clear-cut as well, greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Byron

--------------------------------------------
It's not difficult to say The Wall is the best"album of the "Roger Waters Domination" You can choose between Animals, The Wall en The Final Cut.
So a little bit simple, aren't you?

Re: The Wall-Best Album from the Waters Domination era

Well, that's as clear as mud.

In any case, this is a flawed premise on which to continue a forum: "Which is the best PF album?"

One may as well ask what's the world's best colour? Different albums will appeal to different people differently.

See my previous "Opinions are like arseholes..." comment for clarity.

Cheers,
Byron

Re: The Wall-Best Album from the Waters Domination era

I won't get into why I don't believe The Wall is a good album. But I will second Byron's notion that opinions are like assholes.

Re: The Wall-Best Album from the Waters Domination era

I think I'll have 2 agree, I like The Wall better than Animals and 2 be honest I don't really know The Final Cut all that well.

Btw, I didn't know Gilmour wrote "Comfortably Numb", wow.. it's one of my favorite songs on this album! Cool.

But still, Wish You Were Here is my alltimes favorite.

Re: The Wall-Best Album from the Waters Domination era

Gilmour didn't write ALL of Comfy Numb, silly, just the music, Waters gets all the credit for the lyrics.
