Best keyboard Solos Ever

Although I'm A Guitarist, and Not a Keyboard Player I really Like Keyboards,
and Progressive rock and Classic Rock (Including PF of Course), and since the Best Guitar solo thread is already taken,
I decided to start one of keyboard solos.

I willl intentionly give many Non-floyd Solos, since this is a general Forum Section, and since I think You can't miss Keyboard players like Tony Banks, Rick Wakeman & Jon lord.

Here we Go:

The Cinema Show - Genesis
Firth of Fifth - Genesis
Riding The Scree - Genesis
Supper's Ready - Genesis
One for The Vine - Genesis
The Colony of Slipperman - Genesis
Close to The Edge - Yes
Journey to The Center of The Earth - Rick Wakeman
The Six Wives of Henry The VIII - Rick Wakeman
Child In Time - Deep Purple
Speed King - Deep purple
Concerto For Group and Orchestra - Deep Purple and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Tarkus - ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer)

PINK FLOYD SOLOS:

Careful With that Axe Eugene (POMPEII Version).

Us and Them (Either DSOTM or POMPEII Film versions).

A Saucerful of Secrets (Definitely 2nd Part of POMPEII Version).

Embryo (Latter part on "Atom Heart Mother Goes On the Road" - comes from paris Theatre, London, September the 16th 1970) NOT THE VERSION FROM WORKS!

Atom Heart Mother Suite!(Either Studio or One of the Live performances WITH ORCHESTRA from 1970-1971).

SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND!!! (Studio Version all right People)

Cymbaline (Either from "Smoking Blues - Mountreux Casino, Mountreux, Switzerland, November the 21st 1970 or KQED - TV Studios, San Francisco, California, U.S.A, April The 29th 1970, first show out of two shows performed on this date)

The Great Gig In the Sky (Studio version).

Hope that's enough for you Guys to explore.

Now I would LOVE to read your lists, Opinions , additions and Remarks.

Thanks...

Yoav.

To the Must have Suite list, where it should be, or to the Keyboard Solos List?

Don't get me wrong, I think Thick as A brick is a masterpiece, but I don't see a point putting it in the keyboard solo list.
It's so Diverse, that there's no time for keyboard solo. But for flute solo and guitar solo I agree.
Not That diversion is a bad thing...
if you want a nice Tull Keyboard solo, I suggest Velvet Green.

Yoav.

Ray Manzarak of The Doors..Sheesh, where do I start...Light My Fire, When the Music's Over, Break on Through, Soul Kitchen, Rider's on the Storm. Robby and Ray seem to share some of the solo spotlight on occasion, but his great work can be heard throughout each Doors Song...

Guns N Roses-November Rain

pearlwaters,

As for Ray Manzarak & The Doors You are Correct .

However IMHO Guns 'n Roses Best Instrumental effort was the guitar solos on "Civil War".

Ray Manzerek (the Doors) - 'The Crystal Ship'
Keith Emerson (ELP) - 'Toccata' (not really a keyboard solo, but awesome Hammond work)
Rick Wright (PF) - 'Fat Old Sun' (the 14-minute version)

I add the keyboard work from the 1969 Amsterdam Man and the Journey RoIO...all of those songs have excellent solos.

Another underrated beauty--Love Scene, Version 4, from Zabriskie Point. Nothing but Richard Wright at a piano...truly touching, beautiful.

Most people will think this is insane, but I would add Absolutely Curtains as well...there is something emotional in the keyboard work there, even as simple as it is.

In the non-Floyd category, I must admit to loving the Hammond work in Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride.

If we're slipping into General organ work
why not "House of the Rising Sun"? (The Animals Version)

And if we go to tocatas, I think Tocata & Fuga in Re Minor By J. C. Bach is truly awsome!!.

Duke Elington composed some great Piano Solos as well.

Oh, and It's Nice to see you again Not Now John!
