Smashing Pumpkins

I don't know about you guys, but i love smashing pumpkins. I wish they hadn't broken up, i haven't really listened to zwan, but I love Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness. It's a masterpiece. Some of my favorite songs of theirs are Zero, Disarm, Bullet with Butterfly wings, Here is no why, landslide, today, and muzzle.

Have you heard Machina II? Some good stuff on there, but you first have to find it! Creative way to "stick it to the man"! I think that Billy Corgan was interested in trying some new stuff that wasn't like SP, so they broke up, though I'm really not sure. I also heard that Zwan broke up.
They do some cool live covers, I have a CD of them doing Once In a Lifetime (pretty screwed up version, didn't even recognize it) and Join Together (great version of a great Who song)

I'm also a big fan of SP and it was a very sad thing that the band broke up. I heard that James formed this band the Virgins with that Mellisa, the gal who filled in for Darcy (or is it Melanie-dont really remember), but i never heard any of the band's song. Visited its website once though!!
Some of my all time favs are Tonite-Tonite, 1979, Perfect, Disarm, This Time, the Imploding Voice, Luna, Tristesa

They were great. My favorite song of theirs was "We Only Come Out At Night" for some reason. Gish is my favorite album of theirs. I was much more into them than any of the grunge stuff back in the day. They had better songs and were shoegazy sounding. I do miss them, Zwan sounded like a light weight version of them. I found that surprising because the former guitarist of Slint was in the band, I truly thought they were gonna be a complete departure from the Smashing Pumpkins and they weren't.

I think my favorite songs would have to be:

Porcelina of the vast oceans
Muzzle
Mayonaise

I went to a Rolling Stones concert several years ago and the Stones had 3 opening bands. Matchbox 20 opened first..after that the Dave Matthews Band played then the Smashing Pumpkins then finally the Stones played. I guess when you are as popular as the Stones you can get 3 bigname bands to open for you as odd of a lineup as it was. It was right around the time Mellan Collie came out and they played almost the whole album straight through minus about 4 or 5 songs...they didn't play a single song of siamese dream so the casual fans were kind of pissed but I thought it was a great show.

I have loved the Pumpkins ever since Siamese dream and I will always be a fan of them. Make sure you check out Billy Corgan's solo effort soon.

Yeah I really like SP too. Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness is an awesome album, and I need to get siamese dream too. My favorite songs are Porcelina of the vast oceans, galapagos, disarm, zero, in the arms of sleep, and tonight tonight. I haven't checked out anything billy did solo or zwan though.

zwan isn't that goof... it's just overloaded with guitars...
well, Corgan is Christian now, and he also does poems with his acoustic guitars. Seems like he changes style every day, hehe.
He gives his fans really much attention though (like the forums and such), that's important.

Zwan's album is £3 at FOPP. I might buy it.

Anyway, SP, when they were in their prime, were incredible. Machina was terrible though.
