Genesis? Phil 'slaphead' Collins?? .....

Last time I looked, Yoav, this site was still owned by Paulo, The Piper, so you have to answer to him whether this thread is acceptable or not. As it hasn't yet been closed, I would guess the former.

I personally haven't a problem with it because, a) I spend enough time here as it is and have no desire to spend more time elsewhere, and b) I don't much like Genesis, especially helmed by the "Slap-headed" one.

First of all, I'm Not talking about the "Slap-Headed" Phil 80's Genesis, but Rather the 70's Genesis you are Obviously not aware of, that was headed by Peter Gabriel (Phil Wasn't even a founding member, and started as just a Drummer, and a Damn good one in the early years). This band Playd Music with common Qualities to Classical Pink Floyd,
they belonged to the same genre.
so I thought I could post something about them in the section that was for music other than Pink Floyd.
Plus, have you seen any Chord/tabs Discussion here on this forum?

Oh, and Byron, I was under the Impression you were the chief moderator here now, Correct me if I'm wrong. But I didn't think I did anything wrong, and certainly didn't mean to.
If Paolo desires I will remove the thread. However, I have coressponded with him before this forum even saw the day of light, and I've listened to Pink Floyd when some of you guys were in cradles (No Patronizing ment),
so please those of you whom I'm new too, Please give me the benefit of the doubt to proove myself, though I believe My archived posts tell enough stories, and my honesty ,Warm Heart and Love of Music shows my true nature.

Most of the fans of the "Old Genesis"
Hate the music "Slap-Headed" Phil did in the 80's, and miss the old days. just like Many pink floyd fans prefer Meddle & WYWH Over The division Bell or momentary lapse of reason.

and How would you feel if someone told you about DSOTM,WYWH, or Piper at the gates of Dawn (which ever you prefer) "oh was that made by these "old guys who made this terrible "New machnine"?

I bought my first Floyd album (Animals) in 1977 on the day of release, I believe you would have been about three years old at the time.

Yoav: Trust me mate, I have heard pre-Slaphead Genesis. Rob_T will attest to my long sufferance of our mutual friend, now deceased, Pete's passion for both Genesis and The Grateful Dead. But I shall repeat, I do not like Genesis very much, so sue me. Mind you, Pete had to suffer me listening to ABBA, so I guess it was mutual torture.

And your impression was wrong: I am NOT chief ANYTHING anywhere except my own home. PearlWaters has been a mod for as long as I and I am sure neither of us - nor the other two mods, Fulghum and Wing'd Icarus - have the intention or inclination to prevent any member posting anything they like so long as it isn't abusive, offensive, blatant advertising or a Dreaded Duplicate Thread.

Finally, as I said before, I have no problem with your thread, and as I mentioned, I didn't think Paulo would either otherwise the thread would already be closed by now which it plainly isn't, so chill. Who am I to be offended by an inoffensive thread?

I accept that everbody has It's Own taste in music. In fact, I'm Thirlled It's that way. what kind of world would that be if everybody had to listen to the exact list of bands! worse than 1984! (The film/book). But if My thread is acceptable, why abuse me?

and as for the cradle remark, I wrote SOME , NOT ALL OF YOU! .
This was caused due to reading too many threads of people discovering Pink floyd through Pulse or Echoes, or people who are not permited to drink Alchohol.
Also through bitterness of feeling that I'm not being appreciated for who I am and with regard to low self-esteem, which I sometimes get, despite my High ambitions.

Not that I have anything against newbies, I just feel that many Young people today (NOT ALL Of them) don't have a respect for the founding generation of Rock music, which I'm Not Claiming a bit to be part of (god Forbid).
I just respect them...

Is there a thread on the Genesis board you are promoting here that promotes this board in turn?

If you want to advertise, wouldn't it be more appropriate to buy a banner advertisement, rather than to just use the popularity of this board for your own purposes?

You seem a bit sensitive - I saw some mocking comments directed at Phil Collins (I understand he divorced his wife via fax - that'll earn him some), but none directed toward you.

I don't recall anyone abusing you here, Yoav. You singled me out as some sort of forum master in defense of your creating this thread about which I twice informed you it had nothing to do with me, and I corrected your misconception accordingly.

As to your bitterness at not being appreciated for who you are, that I cannot help. It is impossible to get any real sense of who anyone is via the internet, you know that. One cannot force people to appreciate oneself or one's likes and dislikes just because one wants them to.

So...now that we have gotten so far perhaps you can now continue discussing Genesis chords and tabs with like-minded folk in peace both here and on your above-mentioned forum.

Due to your Latency and rareness at the board you probably don't understand that I didn't come here as an abuser or an advertiser. Is it actualy hard for you to believe that I have old time friends in here, and that I already made new ones?
Plus I was here from the begining.
The only thing I was trying to do is tell MY FRIENDS (which some of them actualy play music) about an Opportunity they might have on the web!
Now perhaps I should have sent them Private messages, maybe that would have been more Appropriate.
but since this is a Cozy Forum, where everybody knows everybody, and since I should have sent dozens of private messages just to cover this forum, not to mention the other things I have to do for living (and I don't get a dime for posting ANY messages) it seemed at the time justified enough to post this message.
and I tried to be apologetic as possible from the start about the course I've chosen. but we cannot change what has been done. and if the site Owner doesn't care, and if the moderators doesn't care, and since this was done in good taste and without commercialization or abuse of people or music, or are you to argue.

One more thing, you don't know me, and that's right I don't know you, but Let me give you an advice:
if you are kind to people, you will get twice the kindness in return.
but if you are rude to people, you get a bad reputation a thousand times more.
and I've worked hard getting a good reputaion in many online communities, Not for the sense of reputaion, but for my Honesty and kindness to people who deserve it. so please think again before you acuse someone of abusing this forum, especialy an old timer like me!
And as for being sensitive, I'm NOT offened by people who are bashing phil, even if I don't agree with them,
I was merely trying to explain the connection between Genesis and Pink Floyd.
and if someone is sensitive, so what?
it can make him a better person and a better writer. if I wasn't sensitive, I wouldn't know How to listen to People, I wouldn't be able to write poetry/Lyrics, and I wouldn't be able to connect with the music of Pink Floyd.

Yoav, I know Rob_Thompson very well, and in REAL life no less, and I can assure you he was in no way abusing you, just stating his opinion regarding this thread so I don't see any reason why you should suggest he is a son of an arse.

I also know and care a great deal for his parents as well, so I am offended by your description of them, if he isn't.

Since this is an egalitarian forum for fans of Pink Floyd, your having been on this site and in communication with Paulo "since the beginning" affords you no more or less respect or rights than a member who has only just now joined. All of us make up APFFN and all, except the obvious trouble-makers, are valued, "old timer" or not.

If anything, your time here should require more responsibility toward your fellows since you know better than most the level of good conduct expected of every member here.

So...now can you continue your Genesis chord and tab discussion, hopefully in peace.

I NEVER ment to say Rob_Thompson was a son of an arse! I was simply stating that it's truly better to be a sensitive guy than to be a a mere jurk, who doesn't give a damn, cause he's not sensitive, even to the most touching expiriences, hence, a son of an arse.
