Just because it makes some people who don't usually enjoy Floyd enjoy it, it doesn't mean that Floyd is the anal excrement you make it out to be.

Oh, and fixxlevvy did not say that Floyd was middle-aged chancers, he said that it would be played by middle-aged chancers, meaning other bands.

It's the first time I ever posted something here... But I couldn't stay quiet when I saw this... Dark Side of the Moon is all about mankind's great worries, nowadays: Working too much, not enough time, money, insanity... So the song fits in perfectly. The fact that it is a little out of the floyd style, merely shows they can do a lot of different stuff, and they do know what they are doing!!

Yea, sorry - a misinterpretation on my part, sorry about that guys.

Anyway, Anonymous, yes i do agree (as i think many) that Money fits in very nicely thematically.

And I also greatly believe that variations in music is great for a band (San Tropez is one of my favorites), but it's the display of that theme that I don't think is as well put across as many of the other pieces on that album and on many other albums.

Examples? Speak To Me/Breathe, i can feel what the band was getting across, with "Money" i sorta bob my head to the beat, stick my head out the car window and sing along!
Sure it's got some great lyrics, but you can't really soak them in, not like the other pieces (In My Humble Opinion). I just don't like that sooo many people think "Money" is classic Pink FLoyd, therefore missing out on real beauty. Sure "variations" healthy and great for a band, but i don't like it when people get a sense of the band from these "Variations" (i wouldn't want "San Tropez" to be a big hit, because, that's not really what floyd's about - their not just a Jazz Band, just as their not just a " 'Heavy' Rock Band", which is what i think many get the feeling of from "Money".

I know I'm late, but if I can get my two cents in (that's a penny, American):

Money, compared to some other Floyd songs, namely CN, WYWH, Echoes, SOYCD, among *MANY* others, is weak musically and lyrically. Compared to 99% of what is out there (Is there anybody?) today, it's an excellent, excellent tune.
