It doesn't fit anywhere on the album and is nothing more than some over-eager pub rock to be endlessly recycled by balding middle aged chancers. It may be technically proficient- but it's as lumpy as hell.

Can you believe that paying audiences actually cheer when it gets played?

NO!!! Definitely Not!!! I'm not a mid-aged (18 Years) and I LOVE Money!!! The Bass-Theme is perfect. I dunno if you can play guitar or bass but the rhythm is so tricky and perfect that it is nearly impossible to write such thing again.
It's awesome!!!!!!!!

Way to go Eugene. You've done a good job at being assertive and repeating your points.

Money may not be one of my favorite Pink Floyd tracks, but I think it fits into the album very well. I do play bass and it is actually very fun to play. Along with the rest of the album, it is very good lyrically. So, I think I have to disagree with you Fixlevvy.

Yeah- but seriously- with regards to the tone of the majority of the rest of the album in relation to this one song: Where's the context????

So not!!!! How can u even say that?? I'm not mid-aged, I'm not even 17 and I love this song, it's one of my favorites on this album (my absolute favorite is Time). I think it's a masterpiece..

Which reminds me, I love the combination Waters did between Dark Side and The Wall with "New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team
Money get back
I'm all right Jack keep your hands off my stack..."

First off, Eugene and the rest, fixxlevy was not saying that you were middle-aged but that Gilmour and his two accomplices are.

Second, I like Money as a song, even though it is prob'bly the most pop-like song on the album, which is why it is so popular with concert-goers. It does fit in, at least in my opinion it fits in better than Us and Them, which I find boring.

Thirdly, fixxlevy sure knows how to get the troops going.

Ok Fixlevvy, you don't like Money and don't think it fits in. Everyone else that has replied seems to think not. Every (wo)man with his own opinion. Except that yours is wrong.

I don't care what anybody says, although Money is not Beautiful as "Us & Them", It's still a Great song, one which without DSOTM would be uncomplete.

I'm going to agree with Fixxlevy to an extent.

Not just because it's popular song that everyone (except us fans) says 'oh tis floyd!' and therefore automatically relates Floyd falsely to some mere rock group like all the rest that sings of love, hate, money and all that repetitive shinanigans (?) that has come to symbolize rock culture - and therefore making so many believe Pink Floyd to be like "all the other" bugger bands of that era - and not seeing the emmense difference it has.

Not just that.

But also that it - in terms of tone doesn't quite fit with the piece- sure you can jam to it and bob your head and tap your finger on the steering wheel to it - but it just doesn't fit in with the whole "floydian" thing with me.

Yes - Flixxevy knows how to get the "best" out of each and every one of us.

But i'm not saying it's "shit" - no it's good stuff alright - just not what i would like to symoblize Floyd (which it doesn't to me - but it does to so many) (that rhymed).

Cheers,
Patrick

I'll have 2 agree with whoever it was who said Us and Them is a bit boring, I mean, I like this song and everything, and yeah, without it the album would be incomplete but still... it's somewhat repeatative. (or however u spell it..)

But, Charade, I do feel that Money fits in. It's like the middle of a movie, setting up the climax and all, with the rest of side 2 being the climax slowly building till the last frigging line.

In retrospect to the album - it does fit in to an extent, but it is sort of in between the early and later stages of floyd - so DSTOM had to bridge this gap -Money being a song that somehow fits in with the earlier tones of Floyd.

I love the song - expand if you would "John" on what you mean by "fit in".

Then maybe i'll explain what i mean by "not fitting in"
