OK Guys and Gals,

This is not a major problem, but one that i think needs to be addressed.

I know that when we Floydians get talking, our discussion warp - sometimes quite off the topic (i'm not talkin' about silly stuff - i'm talking about a different FLOYD topic).

It's happened in the "You know how everyone raves..." thread and the DSOTM one.

Sure it's ok to talk about different stuff - but if you have new ideas and such that don't relate to a topic that has been posted - please post a new one.

Half the time when i click on a topic i KNOW it's not about what the topic name is - but i can't remember WHAT is was about!

It'd be easier for US and for THEM, i mean NEW people to the forums, if we stayed on topic.

Thanks, and i'm sure i've drifted off topic quite a bit aswell - so when i do just kick me back into shape.

Thanks again,
Charade I Am
--Patrick--

PS Flixxevy, i know your gonna respond strangely to this - and the rest of you aswell, take my advice here - don't mess with m--- no, just follow me on this one.
Rock On.

PSS i don't know for you, but the screen goes VERY far that way --------->

Strange huh!?

I'll be sure to try and do that Pat. Oh, I'm wondering what people think of the album More. Do you like it? Tell me what you think.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but I think wandering off-topic is a very natural thing. It happens all the time in normal conversation.

I know it's natural and it's not that bad - i mean it's ok to wander a little - but if your bringing up new topics within a different one - i don't like that.

Dig?

Hi Patrick- Um, I don't wish to seem like I'm treading on your toes here, but as you specifically mentioned me in your post, I feel a reply might be in order.

Whilst I understand why you feel the need to exercise some constraint,It's just a fact of life(whether here or out there) that sometimes a conversational topic reaches it's logical conclusion, but for the sake of camaraderie, it's quite natural to continue on within the established dynamic.

It's a natural progression, and it seems somewhat wrong,I feel, as host by proxy, to try and stymie it.

This IS a Floyd forum. That much is not in doubt. But as people come to recognise and understand each other's differing personalities and opinions, things are occasionally going to drift into differing territories. That's conversation.

I personally am not in any other kind of contact with any of the other contributors to this particular forum, so I do try and throw in some other stuff occasionally, but, it has to be said, the majority of which refers to Pink Floyd in some way or another.

The sentiments you have expressed are fair enough, as everyone has the right to express themselves fairly and equally, however, as moderator, it also is up to you to remain unbiased and impartial, not authoritarian or heavy handed which(although feel free to publicly correct me if I'm wrong)I feel you come across as in your original posting.

There's no-one that I don't like in this forum, and one or two, owing to the incidental banter, I think that I'd probably have a couple of jars with in the real world.

If all we did was talk solely about Pink Floyd all of the time, sooner or later, we'd run out of things to say. It's not like there's anything new happening at the moment, after all.

I do appreciate that you feel this way, and everyone will take your comments on board for the future, as you did a fine job bringing the boys back home on the "Final Cut" debate.

Take it easy man,

Cheers,

Mark

Too all those who disagree with me,

For one I must say that I understand where your coming from. And let me tell you, in the interest of abstract discussions and contemplative thought one must certainly delve into ever expanding reaches of one's innerself and obviously of any underlying factors that occur in any situation so as to exploit others and your own implicit feelings.

That's all fine and good for a chat room, or ICQ or even a college paper.

But in the interest OF THIS FORUM, which is where i believe we are, we need to have a sense of conformity that we ARE in fact staying on somewhat of the same level.

The reason i mentioned you, Flixxlevy is because of 1. your dedication to your own opinion which is beautiful and welcomed. and 2. because you have explicitly brought up a new question in a post.

I also agree with you that I, as a moderator should be non-biased (BTW in my first post i was joking in the last part - that's why i used the smilie).

-----------------------
WAIT. I just read your post again. I think you miss understand me. I mean WITHIN THE REALM OF FLOYD - stay on topic. I don't really care if you start talking about other stuff "on the side", like there was some copyright jokes on one thread and you mentioned Star Wars. That's fine - what i mean is bringing up and changing the original topic in terms of Floyd. If really do understand this and missunderstood YOU, then the rest is what your looking for:
---------------------------------

As a moderator in TOPICS i know i shouldn't (and i think most of you would agree that i don't) have a purely one-sided mind. I'm open to my environment. Yet, as a moderator "proxy" or "not-proxy", i will defend myself when i represent this forum to its best interest, and how I believe Paulo would have me do so.

So i'm not battering you Flixx, old pal. But i'm gonna "stand my own ground" on this one, because it has to do with the organization of the forum.

If your asking questions about how Pigs relate to Syd in a Forum about "In The Flesh" - then i'll get on your case, which is what i'm addressing.

And yea, i'm taking it easy!
Heck, i'm listening to Floyd and drinking a lemonade!
--------------------------------
Well, if you had me wrong from the start about the "off topic" stuff than ignore the above parts.

Gosh that was confusing to write!

Floyd on,

BEWARE..OFF TOPIC POST!!!!
....I EAT BUGS..HAA HAA
JUST KIDDIN GUYS, I LIKE THE VARIETY ON THIS SITE THAT YOU ALL TALK ABOUT!!
Especially how frustrated you can get trying to master a Floyd guitar solo. I broke the neck on my lady luck few weeks ago (by accident I swear!!)Just got a tachinimi (think thats how u spell it) and have been playing sooo much better. I think sometimes its the guitar not you that needs a changeing--I'm up to 6 guitars now and it helps to pick up a different one with a different sound and go at the Floyd with full force till I get it right. O.K I know, I'm the queen of babbleing. SHUT UP GIRL ALREADY!!! (take my own advice) Well, I guess I went off topic in a topics topic or something too!!(say that three times) --sssoooooo LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME!!!
I EAT BUGS IN THE DARK

LOL off-topic stuff is what makes this forum so cool! We could be talking about what kind of basses Roger plays and then we'll end up talking about the size of his penis!
