The music of my life. The music of PF.

First of all, let me thank those, who made and who maintain presently this forum for I’m able to deliver to you those words I was thinking about for many years.

Although I had to register here since I wanted to post a message, I don’t think I’ll be a frequent visitor and contributor here, since my foremost music love is another music project, Enigma, at which forum, on the other hand, I’m quite a frequent one.

Now to the case. I should admit that for several years, after I became acquainted with Pink Floyd, I’m a “fan” of this band. I wrote fan in brackets, since I’m not an ordinary one. It’s considered, that when someone’s a fan, he\she should like at least several works of one specific artist. In my case I like only one; but I not merely like it – I adore it, I love it, I admire it, I worship it finally. It’s “The Division Bell”. I am not familiar with any other PF albums, nor with any specific song (well, not truth at 100%, I like very much trance version of “great gig in the sky” from Dark Side of the Moon (Trance Remixes)). It’s up to you now to consider whether I’m a fan of PF or not. Anyway, that’s not the thing of the utmost importance of me.

What I really find the most important, at least for me, is that this album is one of those rare ones, which creates an unbelievable mixture of feelings inside of me! I’m quite a tough guy, but sometimes I cannot but stop crying, while listening to DB. It’s also the only music piece, which makes it possible for me to feel myself been virtually in England. You know, what I mean? When you listen to flamenco, you imagine sultry and ardent Spain, when you listen to modern sophisticated\synth pop, you imagine modern urban conditions of huge cities. It’s only PF with their DB album, who recalls images of “old & kind” England, which culture I like very much.

The way people in PF create sounds, the way Gilmour controls his voice, the way what they sing etc makes DM, to my mind, a hallmark in music history. I adore every song, from the first till the very last “High Hopes” – the way they are so different (from ambient, soothing and enigmatic “Marooned” and “Wearing the Inside Out” to loud and energetic “What Do You Want From Me” and “Keep Talking”) and at the same time being a whole one is fantastic! I’m not a music critic nor even a native-speaking Englishman, that’s why I cannot express all that strength of emotions, being in me, concerning this specific issue. What I can, on the other hand, to say for sure, is that for me personally “The Division Bell” is not merely only a musical masterpiece which should at its time place some high chart positions, should win various music awards, but it’s a source for my living, providing me with an outstanding soundtrack to many of my dearest memories, giving me sometimes an opportunity to examine my innermost feelings, which bloom up only with this music (while otherwise closed and beyond of reach).

I’d like now to thank you for having spent time for reading this. The last thing I’d like to write here (and thus to make the whole post a bit purpose-like) is that I want to ask you, where can I read any information, both official and non-official, why & when Pink Floyd has fallen apart, and are there any hopes that someday Gilmour and other people will recreate this band for may be some more pieces of art?

Also, to me it's refreshing to see such passion for The Division Bell. Many P F fans are not fond of it....or hate it outright.

You can say that again. W/O Roger, the band is a mere shadow of it's former self. I do rather enjoy A Momentary Lapse of Reason, though.

Everybody knows The Wall only sold 153 copies worldwide and as for Dark Side - what a flop that was.

Yes, but at least they didn't modify their sound for Animals in response to the popularity of punk music or anything.

Well at least Rog kept his integrity with his solo albums - take Radio Kaos for example ... oh ...

Let's face it, without Waters, the band is just utterly obsessed with money. I mean, look at all the times they've tried to get him to join them onstage so they can rake in the millions from a reunion tour!

It's Gilmour's insistence on doing an endless round of Greatest Hits stadium tours that's annoying me - I'm getting sick of seeing them now.

And all the pop singles they come out with every month? Jeez.

The video games are pretty good though.

I sort of liked the Britney Spears/Dave Gilmour duet in their last video.
