BTW (This is for Pink Pig's post from about a month ago...I would have replied to it then, but I just got on here...)

1. Roger was the one who said that Rick hadn't contributed in a long time, and Rick was bullied into leaving the group (Roger threatened to halt production on "The Wall" and destroy the master tapes...Floyd had lost a lot of money before The Wall, and were heavily in debt. Rick had no reason not to call his bluff)

2. Rick was salaried on the Wall tour.(ironically, because of the massive production costs of the shows, he was the only Floyd member to make any money off of it, as well) He is no longer a "junior partner", so to speak.

3. Listen to Division Bell. You will notice his triumphant return (he even wrote the lyrics to "Wearing the Inside Out".

You are correct Pig. Wright might have been amazing at improvisation, we'll never know cause Floyd was not a jam kinda band.
Sorry Mate- Gonna have to disagree- "Any colour you like" was the direct product of a nightly jam. The finished studio product was basically the same, but without the plinky plonky bits.

In the book that comes with "Is There Anybody Out There," Richard Wright said "I hadn't contributed anything to Animals nor The Wall. I simply wasn't very creative throughout that period."

As for listening to Division Bell, please refer to my posts elsewhere in these forums...

Yes you're right! He didn't contribute anything to "The Wall". Now read this very carefully Pink Pig CONTRIBUTING MEANS WRITING, NOT PLAYING!!!! THE SYNTHESIZER PARTS (WERE) PLAYED BY RICK WRIGHT AS WELL THE PIANO PARTS. THE HAMMOND ORGAN WAS PLAYED BY EITHER FREDDIE MANDEL OR PETER WOODS. I'll write it again

ALL SYNTHESIZER WORK ON THE ALBUM
"PINK FLOYD THE WALL"
was played by Richard William Wright
synthesizer used:
SCI PROPHET 5 POLYPHONIC

Nick Mason once said AND IT'S ON THIS WEBSITE "Rick has a natural style, a very specific piano style. But he doesn't come up with pieces easily." Personally I don't think Waters gave Wright the chance through his creative block. The Wall is a great album, but there's a sence of something missing from it, certain areas were Rick should be banging the keys.

Have you ever noticed that from 1973 "Dark Side Of The Moon" to 1983 "The Final Cut" that the music seems to go from all out improvising to more of a "modern rock" type of style.

Fixx, you are correct, after all Pompeii video was great at improv, wasn't thinking--often I think of post Dark Side FLoyd and pre-Dark Side Floyd as 2 separate bands. I apologize, it was only during their most popular days that they cut the improv out.
