Are the Darkness a serious band? Are they trying to be funny or do they take their music seriously? I can't really tell.

The way they play is decent but I really don't know about the singing. I really don't like it when a guy dresses up the way the lead singer does and his voice is too high, he sounds a lot like a female opera singer. If you listen to other older glam rock singers like Marc Bolan or Freddie Mercury, he sounds nothing like them and even if he is trying to be like them he just can't. His voice is not so unique like Marc's or Freddie's. If he is trying to introduce glam rock to today's generation, he is really not doing a very good job at it. The tune is decent, songs re decent, I just don't know about the lead singer. He's over doing it all.

that's the point. if it's worth doing at all, it's worth over doing.

I like good pop, and as Cheesus said, they do seem to be taking the piss, but I like them too. I like the silly jumpsuits and zany video too.

If the lead is the person who does the guitar solo on I Believe... then I think he can play a mean guitar.

What!!! I like Radiohead. Now I really think the lead singer is over doing himself. What about when he put on a union Jack cat suit? He looked so funny -- non of the guys from Pink Floyd ever wore or showed themselves off like that, even Radio Head.

I know the Darkness is not Pink Floyd duh!!! Everyone knows that. And I am not trying to compare them in anyway. All I'm saying is, as I said in my last couple of posts, that the lead singer of Darkness is over doing everything. The singing, the appearance and the acting. He sings too high at some point in his song -- I don't know if he is trying to show off but I just don't like it. The fact that they insulted Radiohead...that's just wrong. Please read carefully, what I put down instead of saying the Darkenss are not Pink Floyd, because any dummy knows that. The fact that we are even a debate on the Darkness at a Pink Floyd Website, is just wrong in my book. If you like the Darkness, good for you and as far as I'm concerned don't have a problem with the musicians in the band, just the lead singer is over doing himself and he will be forgotten just like a lot of old 80's bands in a couple of years. And if any of you don't like my opinion on the Darkness well that's too bad - because the idea that anyone would think I of all people would even compare Pink Floyd to that band is ridculous.

I have seen Radiohead in Conert and I think they were absolutely amazing. They were much better than the recent Def Leppard concert I went to.

you know, eventually you'll get over Pink Floyd. Or maybe not, but certainly you will have far less fervor about them in the future. It's bound to happen with anything as definite as music, particularly recorded music, which stays the same forever. And it happens for the same reason which causes a good deal of us the inability to listen to Dark Side of the Moon any longer. Lack of variety. And anyway, not in our lifetimes, but in someone's (assuming the human race or any trace of it is still around), the sun will lose its fuel and shrink, then expand at a phenomenal rate, reaching even the orbit of Pluto. All proof of our existence will be obliterated and it will be like we never really existed at all. So, in the end, does it really matter? I think not.

By the bye, Byron, the first and last solos are by the lead singer, the main middle solo is by the lead guitarist. They're brothers, you know.
