What is Roger's opinion on Britain's role in WWII?

I know Rog is a very anti-war fellow and all with kind of a grudge against the British government because of their military actions in which is father died, as is hinted in songs like When The Tigers Broke Free(The whole song), but there's been times where it seemed as though he looked up to his father's role as a soldier. Then again why be mad at England in WWII for trying to bring down a racist killing machine like Nazi Germany? "Just talking" wouldn't have done anything.

I'm not trying to turn this into any big political discussion because this isn't the forum for it and it's not meant to be for debate either, but I was just wondering where Rog stands in his opinion of his father's role and England's role in WWII. I certainly don't think Rog sees his father as any 'cold-blooded killer', because it's not like England was the enemy.

I am sure when you've written to ask Roger about this issue, if he writes back, we will all be very much interested in his reply.

Share and enjoy,

I don't think that Roger is necessarily angry at his country for being involved in World War II. It's more likely that his anger is directed at the officers who were in charge of the Anzio campaign in which his father lost his life.

And the Generals gave thanks
As the other ranks held back
The enemy tanks for a while.
And the Anzio bridgehead
Was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives.

This anger directed towards the commanding officers also surfaces in Us and Them:

Forward he cried from the rear
And the front ranks died
The general sat and the lines on the map
Moved from side to side

I read an interview once where Roger said that he believed that WWII was a justifiable war... I'll find it tomorrow for you.

Not true. He really respects his father and the other soldiers who died in WWII, its more of a shout against war in general, and needless ones at that.
