I want to start/join a band

I live in Ohio, where theres not a big music scene, any advice or anything?

Post some announcements in music stores describing what you play, experience, styles of music you play, contact info, etc. Maybe you'll have some luck!

I've rocked in Cleveland and Columbus. There are plenty of rockin' places in Ohio.

but where I live in Youngstown is a little too far away from Cleveland and Columbus, but I might try the muic store idea.

there are tons of internet sites where you can place what I would describe as a "personal ad" for musicians. "Hi i'm a 20 year old who likes to play classic rock, been playing 10 years, I have minimal stage experience, drug free" stuff like that....Here are a few national links to get you started. Pfff...bands should be a bunch of pals playing together for fun..Not a bunch of strangers playing for money..

I dont expect to get money, I want pals to play with since none of my friends play anything. Maybe i should start my ad with "Will you be my friend?"

ugh! My music store just turned into a Guitar Center wannabe and they dont do ads anymore. theres liek no other good places either.
