Re: New Generation of Listeners

Radiochair,

The reason that most youngsters seek this shallow music is because evil corporations Like MTV and Big Record Companies had washed their brains, and intentionly Deppressed Creative artist because their Consultunts
told them it would bring LESS Money(NOT LOSS OF MONEY!). So, deliberetly they prevent the teen-agers from hearing good music, so they may know only the Britany speers kind of music.

and I don't say that just because I don't like This POP music. I also don't like Gentle Giant, but I can understand why some people like them.

And I'm Damn Serious with every word I wrote on this post!

just my two cents...

Re: New Generation of Listeners

I don't think brainwashing is the right word... How about strongly convinced. But the reason this music is popular is because, like Radiochair said, people like it. As I said earlier there are plenty of good groups now and planty more bad groups then. And as far as having bad taste even I am guilty of that. After all, at one time I enjoyed Twisted Sister, and at another time, even more embarassingly, I owned a Huey Lewis and the News album (I was much younger at the time). George Carlin once said, "Pop music is catchy, it's crap, but still its catchy." And really I must admit I agree with him, I have to, I caught myself singing along to Britney Spears yesterday.

Ooops, I did it again...I'm not that innocent.

Quick question before I go: How many of you remember Tiffany? How many remember the name of the guy that sang Rico Suave? Few of you remember or had forgotten till I reminded you, just proving that there always had been bad music.

I have never heard of either Tiffany or Rico Suave.

Who the hell are they?

Re: New Generation of Listeners

Hmmmmm. I'm personally getting a rather disparate feeling at present.

Or rather, I think I'm alone now.

Re: New Generation of Listeners

fixxlevy,

Disparate or Desparate?

The one I can understand, the other I cannot. I shan't reveal which is which, though.

Re: New Generation of Listeners

I think he means "disparate", meaning unlike, or contrasting.

There ya go. Flixxlevy therefore has dissimilar views here, and may I ask what they are?

_Archer, maybe "brainwashing" is too strong here, i mean think of the variety they listen to! From Britney Spears to Backstreet Bums (ohh sorry), i mean the music is sooo different ---

(that was sarcasm)

and now, adding colour....

yea maybe they are sorta brain-washing them.

Re: New Generation of Listeners

I think there're some REAL Bands in the music-buisiness today. Okay, they become less, but Rock and real Music from those who LOVE their music and get into it and also but a meaning or a background in it, will NEVER die!!!
My examples are the Manic Street Preachers, Radiohead, Oasis(<-no meaning, but real rock, great songs!), the verve (<-okay, they split up)!!

Re: New Generation of Listeners

Hey, Eugene likes good music! There is some good music now. Some of my favorite bands that are still around are Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Rage Against the Machine, and Oasis. OK, I guess Pink Floyd is still around, but you know what I mean.

Re: New Generation of Listeners

It's just that Tiffany's one (and only) hit was called "I think we're alone now". But as I was having a rhetorical moment, I thought I'd be a bit..um... rhetorical.

See?

Re: New Generation of Listeners

Fixx,

I knew what you were talking about. A little joke. By the way, what was that guy's name that sang Rico Suave? I honestly don't remember ( I know I brought it up so I should know, but I don't.)
