| Re: New Generation of Listeners You're telling me about young listeners - I'm only 15! I first made real contact with Floyd's music - I think - at my 14th birthday. I received Atom Heart Mother. And that was it. Of course - I had heard Another Brick earlier, but AHM was my first PF album and i was completely shocked by it. I love that album. And in a period of 1 year - I bought 11 or 12 more albums. Of course I like old music better than new music - like Beatles or Led Zeppelin - But I still like new bands too. And I HATE BSB, NSYNC and all those stupid idiots that sing only to get money. |

| Re: New Generation of Listeners Ironically, Roger started out trying to imitate the Rolling Stones, not their music but their wealth. At least according to Nick Shaffner's book.

| Re: New Generation of Listeners Yeah, but Floyd's songs are experimental and really have a message, not like BSB or that kinda stuff (love you ... love that etc.), which is pure shit. |

| Re: New Generation of Listeners Ha, implicit self abomination, good stuff. Anyway - Floyd's Message? Write albums about your band and your views - cause if you write about others, then it's not really yours is it!?

| Re: New Generation of Listeners Perhaps to otheres tho, BSB do have a message. Just that it is not relevant to you. Why is it that I hate pop culture, yet I always find myself defending it in this forum?

| Re: New Generation of Listeners I meant : I agree with what you said about NNJ (no offense bud). And 'self-editing' includes fekking - instead of the obvious alternative.

| Re: New Generation of Listeners I was introduced to Floyd when I was in my early teens (14). When I put in my bro's tape in by mistake and that maniacal laughter of Speak To Me followed by the screams and the ethreal begining of Breathe came on. I still remember that I wound that same tape over and over again(about spent 3 hours tops) just listening to it. From then on I forgot all about Dire Straits et al and was a floydophilic In about two years on I discovered the backward masked message on Empty Spaces. Listening to Any Colour You Like just tips me out. Albums like Animals, final cut and Meddle bring tears to my eyes. Sigh! why can't we have bands like The Floyd and The doors any more?! I still think that I was unlucky never to have been able to attened even one of their live concerts. Of course the fact is that I come from India and that the floyd never been here. It makes me sick to see BOYS gunning for 98degrees and NSync. I have strong reasons to believe that the 'voice' aint theirs, the 'songs' aint theirs and 'instrumrntations' aint theirs as well. They're just a bunch of cute kids who sell covers. Man I hate this world!
