The Travel Section

Anyone ever hear this primative version of "On The Run"? It doesn't use VCS3 Synth or whatever it was Pink Floyd used. Instead, its more a jam with the guitar, bass, and drums. It sounds so much better then the album version of On The Run. Anyone know where I can hear more then 5-10 seconds of this early version other then the DSoTM DVD?

I have the 1972 Live version and most of the concert that goes with it. It's a very interesting Floyd piece but I don't like it is as much as the synth version, its much spacier.

Well, I typed in Pink Floyd Live, and I got this Pink Floyd DSoTM live at London 1972. Downloading it! So far, Breathe is basically the same, The Travel Section is a cool jam, Time is...not that good actually. Too slow...No backround singers. The Great Gig In The Sky (Religious Section) sucks. Plain and simple. Without Claire Torry, the song is a disaster, not to mention throught the whole song, all we hear is the basic piano riff with these preacher's voices. Money on the other hand is a real jam. More upbeat. More guitar use. No Dick Parry though. But I love this version of Money. Its still downloading, so I have yet to hear the rest...

I also downloaded Pink Floyd live at Brighton. I think it is. It sounds exactly the same as the Travel Section and Breathe clips they showed on the DVD. (Roger's tone of voice and timing of everything is the same)

Breathe is less jamier, The Travel Section remains mostly the same, just a faster pace. Time sounds more like the studio version. (The guitar from TTS and Time segue) Great Gig In The Sky now has a Synthesizer? in where Claire Torry would be wailing. Money sounds more like the studio version. Us and Them sounds more like the studio version. ACYL is still more a guitar and synth jame rather then the studio. Brain Damage/Eclipse uses less synthesizer and more guitar.

Overall, sounds more complete and near the studio version then Live at London.

What version did you people like of "On The Run?" the 1972 jamming version or the synth version that was on the album?

The concert version is good...but the album version is way better IMO

I don't like the concert version. The album version is much better. I like the concert version of GIGTS better though.

Pshaw! The Travel Section kicks On The Run's ass. OTR seems like its...so lazy. All Rick needed to do was punch in a few notes, and press that repeat button on the VCS3, then speed it up and bam. There you have it. But with The Travel Section, Dave and Roger are jamming it out on the bass and guitar, Nick is doing some great drumming, and Rick is doing whatever else. I think playing a normal synth in the backround.

On The Run is great, don't get me wrong. But The Travel Section kicks so much ass. I would kill to see a studio version...
