Re: Meddle

Nope- by the law of averages, he should be at least on key occasionally, even if he IS tone deaf (which he is).

Re: Meddle

What the Hell is IIRC.

But you are right it wasn't Rog who admitted to being tone-deaf. Someone else admitted it for him, as if we couldn't tell already.

By the way, I am totally terrible at everything I do, and even I randomly can sing on key at times.

Re: Meddle

IIRC is If I Remember Correctly.

The actual quote is:
"In the early days," says [Peter] Jenner, "Rick used to tune everybody's guitars. Syd couldn't be bothered-wasn't terribly good at it, but could if he had to-and Roger was rone-deaf, didn't have a clue. I never rated Roger's bass playing-no wonder he didn't like me. I never got over the fact that Roger was tone-deaf and couldn't tune his bass. He wasn't an instinctive musician like Syd" (p. 38 in paperback edition)

Re: Meddle

I stand corrected. I should have checked the book before trying to make a statement like that from memory. My apologies.

Re: Meddle

"Unable to tune his bass" does not equate to "tone-deaf"; he just wasn't a very good bassist.

Re: Meddle

what's wrong with seamus? It's better than a pillow of winds, well I think so any way. Echoes is awesome, I don't know about you but for a 23+ minute song it does not seem that long.

Re: Meddle

I love a Pillow of Winds, but your right Seamus isnt THAT bad, even if you don like it, you only have to deal with it for 2 minutes...

Re: Meddle

Seamus may only be 2 minutes, but it sucks. Usually if I listen to Meddle I program the tracks to skip Seamus, so I can pretend that the album is not diseased with that horrible piece of work.

Re: Meddle

Diseased? Pretty strong stuff, don't you think?

Perhaps 'infected' would be a better, less negatively connotative term.

Still, to each their own.

Re: Meddle

I was in the kitchen
Seamus, that's the dog, was outside.

Great lyrics. Somehow, they're not as...interesting as most of Rog's stuff.

Diseased, indeed. Yich.

Re: Meddle

I had it stuck in my head for so long... the fact that Roger actually decided to put that on the album.

Re: Meddle

But enough of what sucks...One of These Days. And Echoes. Both excellent songs. Fearless too. Heh.

Re: Meddle

Fearless indeed.

Meddle has always been a constant in my CD rotation. Probably the only Floyd album has. Except for More. That never has. Ha ha ha.
