Meddle

I am listening to "Echoes" right now!

For me, the attraction of Meddle is that all of the pieces are in perfect balance. The lyrics are nice, and each musician is CLEARLY audible doing what he does best. Lyrical prowess is balanced with musical imagery that is absolutely superb.

"Echoes" itself...in my mind, I perceive it almost as shapes and random images, much as a synaesthete would, except this is all a completely internal sort of imagery. And the imagery is absolutely beautiful...how could it NOT be, with a song like this?

I associate Echoes with some superbe images. Don't know exactly what the images are, but in my brain they are superbe... the albatross and all that stuff....

Oh, and by the way, in Seamus, I heard it's Dave's dog.

Well, I am saddened to tell you that you heard wrong. Seamus belonged to "Steve Marriott, guitarist and vocalist with Humble Pie (former member of Small Faces".

If it has not been said enough One of these days and echoes are awesome songs. But before you say seamus sucks compare it to the new machine. The new machine SUCKS, is that really considered a song?

And there's nothing wrong with saying both Seamus and The New Machine sucks. Unfortunately, there is more than one bad song in the world.

Who is singing the high and low parts on echoes i can't tell whether its rick or dave even at after watching live at pompeii? Same question for welcometo the machine. Also on the sitw it says dave sings the end of eclipse which part, the sun is eclipsed byt the moon part?

The high part is Mr. Wright and the low part is Mr. Gilmour. Of this I am completely certain. Hope that helps!

How does the Meddle album fall into its place as a Pink Floyd album? Nearly all their albums without Syd are about Syd and tell of madness and isolation of the mind. But as for Meddle, what is its purpose? How does it represent Syd? It doesnt. It is the most stand-alone Pink Floyd ever created. Sure you could say, "what about Obscured By Clouds? or More?"...but they are 'soundtracks' so they wouldnt need the whole 'Syd is crazy, lets sing about it' theme. My vote out of 10 for Meddle is an 11. Favorite album by far. What do you think it means, standing alone with no message?

I think it's kind of a continuation album after Atom Heart Mother. They experimented a little more and came up with some great stuff.

Did Dave really play that bass line in Hey You? If so who the live versions of in 80/81?
