Ok people (i never know how to address you all)

Ok, Floydians (i like that better).

Today went like this:

Got up, took a shower, went and got 2 teeth pulled from the dentist. Went to Harmony House - purchased Meddle.
Went home. Popped in (well "placed carefully") Meddle, put on my headphones, laid done and closed my eyes as i listened to an extremely worthy Floyd album.

All can say is WOW.

Ok i can say more - i think i'm gonna go through the album and all it's aspects.

NAME: Meddle seems very appropriate to the different and sometimes very "phsycadelic" (sp?) sound of it. I'm not exactly sure why they named it this - maybe because they were "Meddling" with their instruments and came out with some awesome stuff.

COVER: Great cover, i love the water and overall look - makes me think of a cloud of "eiderdown"! It says the album cover was by Pink FLoyd - and Hipgnosis did some other pics. But it's all very cool.

SLIP: I like the photo of the band in front of the sand dunes, they look so friendly.
The "full-page" picture of all 4 really looks great aswell - great photography and it sorta shows all of their character.

ONE OF THESE DAYS: WOW, what an awesome song - i love how the "interjections" of sound come in from when side and then splash on your other ear - a great great song, and "One of these days i'm going to cut you into little pieces" sounds reminisent of the teacher in "the wall". I give it 5 out of 5.

A PILLOW OF WINDS: A beautiful song, i love the acoustic guitar and the lyrics are also stunning. It's not my favorite floyd song but it's very worthy of a 4.5 out of 5.

FEARLESS: This song is truely great, after the softness of A Pillow.., it truely shows Floyd as being a progressive Rock band - i can't help but pick up my guitar and strum along! Also the fans yelling during and at the end are great! I love that sorta wild atmosphere and i'm sure it was at a football (yes soccer for us) match - which i'm a great fan of. 5 out of 5.

SAN TROPEZ: Not what i think of when i think of floyd but hell this is AWESOME!!! What a great song to swing to! It's soo great, and really shows the diversity of Pink Floyd which is vital, a great Waters piece but Wright also plays one kick ass solo that fades out. 5 out of 5.

SEAMUS: ok i know alotta Floydians don't like this song. And it's certainly not very good - but it's alright. 3 out of 5.

ECHOES: Whoever said it's a 23 minute Orgasim is correct!
It's a great piece - and although it gets a little boring around the 12th minute, it's all made up for! 5 out of 5.

Well let's see that's 27.5 out of 30.
Not bad, not bad at all.

Rock on,
Patrick

Ohh - and go ahead and evaluate how you want!

Hey, I agree it is a great album, and Echoes is a great song, did you try the 2001 and echoes synch. It is hypnotizing. Seriously, I was not high when I watched this but certainly felt like I was.

Yes, Meddle is one of my favorite albums. Your form of reviewing it and how you think of it is very good. Maybe I should consider using it for More...

How did you know what the guy is saying on One of These Days? I couldn't tell by just listening to the album, I had to go onto the internet and find out.

Without a question Meddle is one of my favorite albums of the Floyd. From the start with Roger on the bass till the end of Echoes, I feel as if I am in trance. I can listen to Meddle over and over and never hear the same chords twice.

I don't quite know what you're talking about re: macjr14's moniker, but that's ok.

Ummm, as I said before, the first bass you hear is Dave. Roger comes in, like a bar later on the left hand channel(He's the one with the blunt strings).

Well, macjr14's signature is:

One of these days, I'm going to cut you up into little pieces

That's interesting that Dave is playing lead bass guitar on One of these Days. Does anyone know if they play it using slap bass? Or do they play ordinarily, with a finger or pick?

No, David Gilmour hooked up a Binson Echorec to the bass guitar and used a finger pick. I give Meddle a 30/30. It's my underwater Pink Floyd album. Wright recalibrated his Hammond 102 Organ which gave him a KILLER distorded sound.

Meddle is truly an awesome album. 29 out of 30 i would give it. only because of a couple "so-so"s between OOTD and Echoes. These two songs are certainly one of the best ever performed. one of these days is especially wonderful live. I get extreme chills every time i hear that first bass line coming in. Echoes live is good too just not much variation from the album version

Actually, Dave played bass on about half of all Pink Floyd's studio recordings. He could learn the parts faster so he would just record them. Dave said that Roger used to come thank him for winning him bass playing polls. I can pull out the interview if you want to read the whole thing with Dave.
