What's the weather out there ?

Just got done battening down the hatches, Frances is very close and we're in the path of the eye wall. I just hope it's not over 140 mph winds, if not I think we're O.K. Good luck to all in the path, they say this ones gonna have lots 'O rain. It will be worse if it slows down, it can mean the difference between 10" or 20" of rain. Can anyone imagine 20" of rain in 24 hr., wow, just simply WOW.

Waters, Shane, Chrissy, good luck to you and all you other Florida people. One of my brothers lives in Ocala, so I'm more concerned than the average non-Floridian.

Thanks Straters, I think this might be a bad one. I've got insurance and everythings replaceable, I'm more worried about older people and those without insurance. My Mom is 25 mi. west of Daytona, she's going to tough it out with her friends across the street. They have a brick house, so I'm not as worried, but still worried for their safety. If it gets too bad, we'll just jump in the Darango SLT, and take the backroads, and get the F outta dodge!

My father and a lot of my family lives in Miami, so I am also concerned. I was living in Miami when Andrew hit.
Flordians are used to hurricanes and i'm sure they are prepared.

We got lucky, Frances was substantially reduced, by the time we got hit. Some roof repair, I needed to do a roof job anyway. We were very lucky, my mom seen 115 mph gusts over a period of about 2 hours. Anything over 80 mph scares the shit out of you, the trees become horizontal, nasty stuff! Our store has power today! No telling when I get power at home, all in all not bad, just the inconvience of no power for 5-7 days.
