Was Meddle, Live at pompei, DSOTM, and WYWH Pink Floyds prime

i think these albums show what pink floyd was trying to do in their music cause they reflect on the bands ideas the most.

Who belives me?

dont get me wrong though Animals and the wall are still good albums the ones ive said up above are the ones ive enjoyed the most

yeah, Animal, The Wall there were OK, I guess? Nothing compared to Meddle. I mean only all of the songs on Animals are classics. What a bad composition. How could someone even compare a song like Dogs or Comfortably Numb to Seamus? What would they be thinking?

Oddly enough, I'm siding with WatersIsGod on this one. In my opinion Floyd were in their prime from 77-83 (I suppose 76-82 if you take into account when the material was recorded) but I guess that's why I'm a Waters whore cuz I think that was their best work.

This is not to say, however, that Meddle isn't good or that Seamus is a bad composition.

Well yeah, kind of. It all depends on what criteria you're basing "in their prime" on. Commercial success? When they were most cohesive as a group? Personal favourite era?

The question of being "in one's prime" can be subjective, so I gave a subjective answer.

I'm not sure why it was written, but it definitely has a non-serious air about it. But, as I said,

...meaning: I think Meddle is good, and that Seamus IS a good song. I enjoy it very much

I don't know why people pick on it.

For a band that was so experimental as to later attempt an album without musical instruments (household objects), using a 'singing dog' is nothing remarkable.

Actually, I think it was a clever stunt. I like it.

A stunt is a stunt. And a stunt can and may be clever. But if I want a stunt, I'll go to the circus. If I want good music, I'll listen to Floyd. They should not intermingle. That said, I love One of These Days and Echoes. So calm down.

Pink Floyd, in my experience, is about the only band that haven't exactly reached what you'd call, in music terms, a peak, or plateau. I mean, this particular forum shows it in a visual sense the fact that Pink Floyd had survived through different epochs, if you will, where the ideas of what they wanted and how they were to achieve their goals harkened a whole new era, or ethos. The Floyd that Syd ran is therefore totally different to that which Gilmour toured in the mid 90s. In my count, there are 6 Pink Floyds:

Barrett Floyd
Post Barrett Floyd
Early 70s Floyd
Dark Side of the Moon Floyd
Waters Floyd
Post Waters Floyd.

And I love it all!

Man, you'd think someone'd get a hold of those Household Objects tapes by now! that'd be an interesting listen! maybe they did Dark Side songs on the spatula or something.
