Maybe you find the studio version of SoS annoying because it includes a lot of sped up squeaking and screaming vocal noises that later characterized "Several Species of Small Fury Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict"?

i thought ummagumma was probly thrown together because there doesnt seem to be a base to the album its just constant crazy and then you here some quieter songs then some freakin squirl sounds and then a good song and then just bang bang bang

Good song!?

Joking! Actually most of it IS shite, but Narrow Way (pt 3) is alright. So are select parts of Sysyphus.

I think it was Cheesus that aptly described Sysyphus as "Rick playing the piano with his forehead".

You know, just because you like some of Pink Floyd's music does not mean you must like all of Pink Floyd's music.

Couldn't agree more. In fact, if any of you claim you like "The Grand Vizier's Garden Party" I know you're lying

On a side note I believe it was Perceive who referred to the above-mentioned piece as "Nick Mason throwing tennis balls at his drum kit for 12 agonizing minutes". That was funny and nicely put.

No, it's not that so much, it's mostly the fact that the last section sounds crappy in ther studio version because it's moaning voices, whereas live the final section has an exceptional piece of gilmour vocal, which makes it all worthwhile. It's also much more fun to see the song being played than just hear it, i find.

I love EVERY moment of Ummagumma, yet the majority of The Wall leaves me cold. Maybe I was taking the wrong type of drugs at the time

Re: could ummagumma and Sauserful of secrets been a little less "mad scientist" sounding

Hmm. I'm having one of those days where everything is weird. I didn't go to school today, as i was instead at a computer games lecture at Abertay University in Dundee, and before that i was bowling...
First of all, we managed to get the fowl button timed just right so the ball would roll all the way back up the lane to be bowled again. Then all my friends stole my fabourite technique (bowl as slow as possible) and we adapted variations on it... Kicking the balls, rolling them from sitting down...
Then one guy hit the ball RIGHT into one end of the bump and broke it. And a ball rolled down half-way and just stopped because i had bowled below that specific speed margin to get it to keep going. Then the stupid machine started acting funny and only picking up half the pins before sweeping, meaning it was easier to get a half-strike.
And then of course, we went to the lecture, then ate fish and chips (well, i had a King Rib), and came home again. And here i am slightly later, and i have a headache for the first time in a long time and i'm really confused.

Anyway...
