| could ummagumma and Sauserful of secrets been a little less "mad scientist" sounding or at least the piano and drum crash cause i cannot listem to it on the headphones for christ sakes. i remember nick mason calling the crash music soud mad scientist the worm your honor |

| I'm not sure I would take away the cacophony. That's kind of what makes it appealing, in my opinion. Songs like "Saucerful of Secrets" and "Atom Heart Mother" and things like that have certain chaotic parts, but then remerge gloriously with great melody. I guess it all depends on whether you agree that the "mad scientist" bits are contributing to the song as a whole, in which case I do. |

| Part of the beauty of these albums is what TOF said. That they have moments of craziness and then revert back to smooth melody |

| It's a trick question, very similar to "Have you stopped beating your wife?" NO, would imply one thought the two albums already sound "mad scientist" enough, whether or not one thought this of them at all. YES, would imply they could indeed sound less "mad scientist", with the same qualification. I do not think they sound at all "mad scientist", whatever that is. |

| Strangely, i find the studio version of Saucerful of Secrets to be quite annoying to listen to but the live versions on Pompeii and Ummagumma are great (especially Pompeii because of the visual aspect... It's so funny seeing rick elbowing the piano). |
