Pompeii is the greatest concert dvd I've ever seen, and I own a ton of em (wide range of styles, U2 to Phish). Besides the music, it's just something about the atmosphere of the gig. You watch David Gilmour out there, a strapping young guitar god, with all the promise in the world and not a thought in his head of lawsuits and bitter breakups. I think that's why it resonates so much today.

I don't watch the DC anymore. The Computer grafics are pathetic and the modern day parts don't fit in at all.

Did you ever notice in Pompeii Roger was always wearing black and he was the only one who never took his shirt off? Well, neither did Nick, but at least he wore comfortable light clothing. Just thought I would say..........

I watched about 2 minutes of the director's cut before I had to turn it off.
Does it get any better?
I remember buying the VHS back in the late 80's and taking it over to a boyfriend's house. I thought it was so cool and wanted to share...he could not stand it. Jerk...

To "echo" nearly everyone else, Pompeii is a great video. I even ripped the audio to a CD-R for personal use. Awesome performance by the boys. The director's cut was semi-interesting to watch once just for the cheesey interviews. After that one time, I always just watch the original movie. Thank gawd they put the original uncut movie on the DVD too.

Lost Soul, I'm sorry to say that the director's cut don't really get any better.

Maben was talking about the original film, back in 1971! David Gilmour (nor Pink Floyd) is not involved in the production of the DVD and badly criticised the Director's Cut in a couple of recent interviews.

I love Live in Pompeii...I absolutely love it.

There is no other Floyd concert video or DVD like it.

I especially like the shots on Dave doing the vocals on "Saucerful of Secrets".

was Gilmour stoned when he said "People tend to think of us as a very drug-oriented band, of course we're not" *grins strangely at the camera* ...(or something like that anyways) ???????

No, he was taking the piss. They WERE a drug orientated band. It's blatant mock sencerity.
