echoes is by far the best song by PF. SOYCD is great and so is time but i mean come on. echoes. come on.

Very hard for me to decide my 2nd favourite in that list, but Echoes is my all-time favourite song, so it wins 1st :P.

About time I cast a vote. It's gotta be SOYCD.

As I said somewhere around here several years ago, in my opinion Echoes was a warm-up effort for the epic that is SOYCD.

Echoes has some fantastic parts, but it doesn't hold my attention like Shine On does.

Comfy Numb is brilliant too, but it's not the complete Floyd song that Shine On is. All the best things about Pink Floyd (too many to list) come together in that marvellous musical journey.

I had the priviledge of hearing (and seeing) most of the songs performed by Roger Waters a few years back. SOYCD was played, in its entirity, and was simply brilliant. Dogs, on the other hand, was a little un-interesting and I took the extended keyboard/card playing bit as a good chance to go to the little boys room.

The original is, I believe, still the best but there are many live versions that are fantastic in their own right. Delicate Sound of Thunder, for one, is quite astounding. There's a bootleg version from sometime in the seventies (the animals tour I think) that is a little more stripped down than 'modern' performances...and features crazed flourishes on the drums from Nick; and a raw, grungy, brillant solo from Dave! That version is pure rock...at its very best.

The song NEVER fails to delight. For me it is the ultimate Pink Floyd creation.
