There's something about it, and for me I think it is the extremely elaborate Gm, Dm, and Cm chords played on the synths. They have such an eerie feel - every once in a while, I'll listen to it. And I mean, really listen, not just play the music and let my ears register the sound. I'm talking about sitting back (normally I do this while listening with headphones actually), and concentrating on listening to incredible intricacies that exist with the music, the things that you miss unless you really listen hard. And to me, it is rather difficult to find a greater ecstacy.

| As of 7/16/04, SOYCD still holds a comfortable ten vote lead over Echoes (34 to 24). I had the WYWH version of SOYCD on the other day as I was doing the dishes, and I was struck by RWr's keyboards. I usually focus of BDG's most-excellent guitar work, but truly listening to Rick's keys made me realize (once again) that SOYCD IS the ultimate PF song. | Indeed, I totally agree with you, sometimes I tend to forget about everything else, but sometimes I get struck by the brilliance of one of the other lines... |

It was a very hard choice, indeed!!! My vote goes to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", just because...I love this song, and it is very well arranged!! My vote also goes to "confortably numb", 'cos it's a very good song to listen to when you're alone in your bedroom.

I went for Dogs.... the song flow so amazingly.... and 5 guitar solos *grins* I fell in love with it the first time I heard it... though, not so much as Childhood's end, which I heard for the first time a few months ago. As for Shine On you Crazy Diamond, I love the song, Wish you were here was the first Pink floyd Album I bought, and Shine and Welcome to the machine were the first few songs that got me into pink floyd. My favorite part of Shine though, is probably, part 8 or so. That being the Jam session that occurs after the lyrics at the end of the album. It's just so Funky. I love those Pink Floyd Funky parts. Any colour you like, What do you want from me, Atom heart mother has a good Funky sequence too. Those parts are really where Rick shines. I've been tempted to buy that solo album of his.. I guess I'll navigate to those forums and read what you all have said about it. Summer '68 is also one of my favorite songs(top 5), simply because of it's musical complexity.

If you like the groovy, wet-sounding organ funk you should go with Wet Dream. If you're more a fan of the atmospheric stuff I'd recommend Broken China. If you were foolish enough to like Radio KAOS I'm going to have to say Identity...

Echoes and SOYCD are defining Floyd tracks. Numb is genius though, as is Dogs (and anything from ANIMALS).

terminalfrost, often, the winner is not the best. But, when will end and what's the prize of this poll? Maybe, the White Disc House.
