My fault--(you're not dense)--What I meant was, it is easy to see you are a writer.

Just let me say this (to get back on the original subject)...
I own Momentary Lapse of Reason on vinyl (hey, it cost $4.00 and was in near mint condition). And just let me say that when I pull it out to listen to it, I never flip it over to listen to side two!
I like the first side only. Everything (yes, including Dogs of War) is good on that side.
I've given the second it's chance. I just don't dig it.

Whenever I listen to AMLOR I let it go straight through first to last track without skipping anything. I've accepted it as a single entity...just like I do with the Wall, or Animals, or ATD, or almost any other album Floydian. (exception--last half of Ummagumma--can't stand it). I agree that the lyrics in Dogs of War are contrived to seem "Waters-ish"...and Dave seems to strain trying to sing them....esp that one awkward place where he has to jam too many syllables into too few notes.....but it rocks. I also understand the common distaste for New Machine I and II. They couldn't stand alone, but they don't bother me--They're mercifully short...That being said, Signs of Life, Learning to Fly, On the Turning Away, Terminal Frost, Sorrow---AWESOME!

Stratman--that's very kind of you to say (the comment about my writing). I'm sorry I missed your meaning the first time around.

As for "Dogs of War", I personally don't think it's bad. I kind of have fun trying to scream the lyrics...but really, it sounds like Mr. Wright trying to cover the song. My voice will not do that. And as for "A New Machine", I don't hate them. They have their place.

Dogs Of War isn't bad at all, even if it's one of my least favourite of the album (One Slip is another one). A New Machine I-II is just a little piece which you have to listen to in the frame of the whole album. The song itself is nothing special, but after all it's the same with "Get Your Filthy Hands..." in TFC.

Learning To Fly

I have just seen the video of Learning To Fly on MTV (yeah, the mainstream channel, just before a Ricky Martin song). The show was called "So 90's" (!)

Cool

They actually played a lot of 80's songs on that show.
Weird...
I mean I didn't expect a Pink Floyd song to be played on the mainstream channel, instead playing BSB or some other crap.
