Help me find a good PF book/concert vid

Hi. I've been asked what I would like for x-mas this year, but I'm not quite sure. I want either a Floyd concert video, or some sort of book (or maybe even both!). In any case, I have no idea what's good, what's crappy, etc. I know there's tons of stuff out there...I'm just asking for a point in the right direction. Thanks!

I read Schaffner's book, and I liked the first part, but aside from Syd, I felt almost no connection with the other Floyds. Syd's section was so in depth and informative, it's a shame that he couldn't have done the same with the other members.

Roger Waters ; In the Flesh Live, concert video is excellent, Almost as good as David Gilmour Live....Get the DVD's. The bonus material is excellent in both cases as well.

David Gilmour Live is excellent, almost as good as Roger Waters: In The Flesh.

Get Live in Pompeii as well.

it depends , what type of pink you are , if you like SYD , go for shaffner book " sauceful of secrets " , if you're MR WATERS , go for " In The Flesh " it's all bout his ego and his talents , and if you like Gilmour , go for Pulse / Pompeii or Echoes

well, actually, i have the Wall Berlin concert on tape. thats the only live music ive seen related to pf. now, i actually dont have any music from pre-dsotm (besides ummagumma). im more interested in a book that either explains their music, or is a biography through out the years. id also prefer to get a dvd of a concert where they all are still together...so far Pompeii is looking like a good choice.

The Shaffner book (A Saucerful of Secrets: the Pink Floyd Story) is a good overall biography of the band. It filled in a lot of holes in my knowledge of the band when I read it. Nick is a bit hard on Roger, though. After reading it, I was somewhat anti-Waters for awhile, but I've since adjusted my thinking.

Another Brick in the Wall - by Cliff Jones is pretty good about explaining the songs and the stories behind them. Although there are some errors in it.

Pink Floyd: Through the Eyes of the Band, it's Fans, Friends and Foes by Bruno MacDonald is a book I plan to read. Bruno was the editor of the fanzine "The Amazing Pudding", and has tons of material about PF.
