Comparing the current Floyd to the work of Mr. Waters is obviously going to fall short...but it is excellent in its own right, and still far above almost all of the radio garbage out there.
You're wrong, TDB is radio garbage.

I disagree...I think that TDB is still definitely a cut above most work put out today--FAR above.

I have said it a million times, TDB is a great album. Better than the final cut, any of rog's solo albums(even ATD it sucks), and better than most floyd albums. I rank it above meddle and animals.

Why isn't Dave Gilmour making his pinkfloyd albums all instrumentals?

TDB is NOT radio garbage. Half the stuff you hear on the radio IS radio garbage. Some DJs do not know good stuff when they hear it (they think their voice is good stuff half the time).

Saying that though, someone obviously had taste when ABITW2 (PULSE version) was played late at night on the radio. Pity rare gems of songs are played at the most inconvenient times.

You're very lucky...only once have I ever heard of anything from PULSE being played on the radio (and it certainly wasn't anywhere I would've had the fortune to hear it)!

And thank you for backing me up about TDB!

I think that we buy albums because of the music. If we want to read a poem we usually buy books. Even people who don't understand English love Pink Floyd, because of the music. Music speak for itself. It's an emotional universal language so it's definitely more important than lyrics. Tracks like The Great Gig In The Sky, A Saucerful Of Secrets, Careful With That Axe Eugene and many others don't need words. And don't overrate Roger Waters as a writer of lyrics because the world of rock has even better writers. He *was* very good but he's never been THE BEST. What makes the difference with Floyd is music. Great music.
