pink floyd and radiohead top 2 of all time?

I strongly believe pink floyd and radiohead are the greatest bands of all time (success doesn't figure as image plays a massive factor) this is more than an opinion as I believe these bands portray emotion, atmosphere, passion and mystery better than anyone else - they just dont do catchy and refuse to shout....tsk!!

radiohead is soo overrated.
they're good, but not that good; just compared to mainstream stuff..

I like Radiohead and Pink Floyd but calling them the 'top 2 of all time' might be a little bit of a strech.

Pink Floyd & Radiohead 2 best ever?

Floydians,

I must say that Matthew Gill was half right...Pink Floyd is the greatest band ever. Radiohead? Hmmm they have some strong emotion, and perhaps are damn good...but not quite up there.
I have often had the debate of who is the Pink Floyd of the 90s (now I guess the 00s). One person's opion was Radiohead was the Floyd of the 90s. Yet another proclaimed that the Smashing Pumpkins were the above said. Although he somewhat made me a believer, I would say that Tool is the Pink Floyd of the 90s....not that this refers to the original post.
Coincidently the greatest 2 bands of all time are PF and Led Zeppelin.

Overhead...

Re: pink floyd and radiohead top 2 of all time?

i agree with the thread starter, floyd was my first musical obssesion, but is hard to get remain excited when there is no new album, no new tour, etc. i seen roger live, but it didn't leave me exactly satisfied. radiohead on ther hand are every bit as brilliant as pink floyd were on their heyday, rh are on top pf their game now and have been so since 1997, and they officially became my favorite band (putting floyd on 2nd) after i saw them live for the first time back in '01.

Re: pink floyd and radiohead top 2 of all time?

You'd have to have first listened to all the bands in the world before you could make that judgement.

Re: pink floyd and radiohead top 2 of all time?

not really young un, dispite popular belief music does come in levels of enjoyment and quality defined by it's melodious quality (this varies acording to ones mood and what one is used to) i.e a bands average song could be on the same level as the Bob the Builder track only enjoyable for kids who appreciate the songs fun novelty value. Then you get bands who's average music compares to stanley myers cavatina these are the better bands - a group influenced by ennio (pink floyd, radiohead) is going to be a better band than one inspired by cheeky girls (fast food rockers) taste is evident but who could give the most accurate opinion a 25 year old or 4 year old.
